Excellent! :+1:

Really brilliant work! :+1:

Awesome stuff and awesome tutorials!

The Edens are excellent printers and your projects look fantastic. How much sanding and polishing do you need to do by hand after the print is finished and how much loss of detail are you seeing? Do you sculpt super juicy detail into the digital model to compensate for the loss?

You had me when I thought these were 2D!
Congrats!!

Thanks SO much for these tutorials! As a new 3d printer owner, this is exactly what I was looking for! (Ultimaker 2+ extended)

yeah I stopped the tutorial after I heard that… Overwhelming investment, that’s a mortgage on a little starter home

Maybe they finance it for 15 years or so… Regardless GREAT work OVERALL!

We actually just purchased a Ultimaker 2+ extended printer, and we are VERY pleased with the printed results. The cost was $3000. I’ve printed gaming miniatures and even printed replicate cufflinks for Kingpin on the printer so far with excellent print quality.

Its far from the speed of a $80,000 printer, but the quality is quite acceptable if you can wait a day or so for large prints to complete.

These are just over 1" wide Ghostbuster firehouses I modelled and printed, and each printed in about 2 hours or so. (These also were not printed at the best print setting, and as viewed are probably 10 time bigger than the naked eye can see them. I can’t see the print lines unless I hold them up a few inches to my face.

And here is a Necromicon I sculpted in zbrush for a board game.

Hey Ehren, thanks for the 3D printing videos, they’re great.

Thanks again guys. I know the prices of these printers is prohibitive right now but technology is progressive and the prices will come down. It’s just the nature of things. My advice is to get up to speed on the process involved so that when things become more affordable, you are totally ready to jump on board. I also think that FDM printers are a great investment for those wanting to familiarize themselves with the process. Anyway here is another 20 minute youtube video. Its not so much of a tutorial. I give some advice about sculpting but I also go in to some depth about my personal experiences in the collectibles industry. It’s an honest, down to earth backstory. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my career and I thought some people might benefit from hearing that it’s not all easy breezy. All the artists that we look up to and admire have paid dues in their own way. This is just my personal take on it. And thanks so much for another top row. It’s an honor and I would love to encourage other people to keep working hard and achieve what they want. Enjoy

Thanks for sharing, this last video was one of the most inspiring things I have watched in years

Hi,

1st thing, just wow…

Do you have any video about how you go on about posing a character? O.o I for some reason just cannot pose characters… in the dynamic form that I want… Just wondering :))) Since the last clip from you is really nice…

Thanks again guys. I’ve gotten multiple requests for posing and sculpting dynamic figures. I’ll get something together for you this week. I’m also planning to cover a little more about 3d printing. Specifically, scaling, and creating hollow parts. Thanks!

Just finished your latest video, great stuff. Can’t wait to see one about posing. Thanks for making these.

incredible story and amazing job keep up the good work

Love your great work. Thanks for sharing with us.

Very inspiring and ecouraging stuff. Thank you for that!

Here’s a wip of J Scott Campbell’s Alice. Still a bit to do

Hi

Looks awesome dude. And what an amazing thread. Really great sculpts here, and that last video you put up was really inspirational, good stuff. Thanks.

Thanks again everyone. I’ll be posting a tutorial tomorrow on scaling and printing hollow parts…
In the meantime here is something I did last year that zbrush once again played an integral part in. This is the finished 1/4 scale Barbarian (Conan) statue I completed for ARH studios. Based on the Frank Frazetta painting and officially licensed by the family. It was one of the most complex, intimidating and challenging pieces in my career. It went through so many rounds of revisions I lost track. You can see for yourself how rough and awkward this piece looked in it’s early stages. I hacked the wax apart and melted it back together so many times that the initial rough sculpt was completely obliterated by the time it was done. I used a variety of techniques to complete the sculpt. I did an initial digital rough sculpt in zbrush that I printed on an Airwolf FDM printer. I made silicone molds of all these parts and re-cast them in wax. The majority of the final sculpting was done in wax but I also included 3d printed elements (weapons, jewelry, helmets etc) and much of the base was sculpted in a combination of water clay and epoxy. I also made the final sculpt of the female portrait utilizing ZBrush and our EDEN 3d printer. I then sculpted the hair around the printed face. That was a ton of fun LOL. The paint work was done by Arahom Radjah. The completed statue stands 25 inches (64cm) tall.1.jpgb1.jpgb3.jpgb4.jpgb5.jpgehren-bienert-2image.jpgehren-bienert-10320274-890847647621410-8901098122746957326-n.jpgehren-bienert-11011902-916347995071375-4279956692924729450-n.jpg
