Here’s my result with the tutorial. Thanks again! My one thing is that I wish it weren’t so dependent on the polypaint color, but it’s probably something I can tweak in the shader 1 slot.ZGrab01.jpg

Awesome information, thanks for doing this. Went through everything in your walkthrough and had beautiful results on your polypainted surface. Decided to try this on one of my own projects and took a lot of tweaking to get it worked out on my own polypaint, but still very nice results. Also had to tweak light caps quite a bit to straighten out the other materials and get a nice balance between everything. Tons of good information on shaders in general though. Really cool that you made this, and great layout for it as well.

Thank you so much guys! The response tothe ZBrush skin material tutorial has been overwhelming! The rendersyou have sent me are awesome, keep them coming! Is very encouragingto see that the tutorials has been useful and I really appreciate allthe comments!

Thanks for the likes and for spreadingthe word. I’m just doing a bit of a follow up based on some of thequestions and comments I’ve got in my inbox with is a video Irecorded of a super sketchy creature, quickly rendered using theproject from the Skin material tutorial (basically re-purposing thematerial and project to render something non-human and with a verybasic polypaint).

I hope this give you an extra littleinsight on the process! Cheers!

Thank you so much! This helps a ton

for some reason i did not get your link, I tried using two emails. Anyway, thanks for sharing, looks great

Great job on all of this stuff and thanks for the hard work and kind offer!

Unfortunately I didn’t get the email, though my email address is OK, and my spam folder is empty…

@Jester:
Try again, it failed for me too a week or so ago but worked almost instantly just now.

@Pablander:
Thank you VERY much for this!
Just skimming over it I have learned a lot already, it’s an amazing amount of information and presented so nicely!!!

Hey Guys I forgot to post this here, it is basically a quick video I put together to give you a rough idea of the steps involved in the creation of the illustration: Lost Creatures - taking shelter from the torrential rain.

Hope you guys like it!

Thanks Pablander, always a treat !

When I download the rar file for the skin shader 7zip always tells me it is a broken file. Any chance for a different link?
Thanks :slight_smile:

A stunning walk through video for a stunning piece of work.
Much to admire.

Hey guys! thanks so much for all the kind words I’m really glad to hear that the skin tutorial is helpful for some of you.

More than a month after I publish the tutorial and I’m still getting quite a bit of traffic so if you have problems with downloading the PDF or the resource files, send me an email and I cans send you a copy.

I found another Lost Creature wondering around at night time which is very common, but they are getting closer and closer to some populated areas. based on the height and shape of the horns I’ll say its a young male Muddler but I can only see 3 fingers and a thumb for each hand so it might be just a Common Horned Hox.

Hope you guys like it!

Charming work! really enjoy the whimsical style of your lost creatures! currently trying to achieve a similar magical feel to my own renders! so thanks heaps and heaps for taking the time to share what you know and some of your workflow and process! I’m also reading the free Tutorial you made on the skin shader material! very awesome! My next project I want to keep within Zbrush and Photoshop only and try get the best I possibly can! :slight_smile:

Hey guys! I’ve been busy working on a very cool project that I will be sharing with you soon as well as experimenting and trying stuff with ZBrush.

In case you are not following me on facebook (facebook.com/pablander), I posted this yesterday and it might be of interest for some of you guys:

chicken creature COMP.jpg

I made this weird chicken-like creature yesterday and I spent some time on the feathers so I thought they will work nicely as a MMI brush… soooo… who want some feathers???
Here the link to download the brush:

feathers_insert_brush.jpg

I put a couple of brushes in the zip file, one of the brushes randomises the mesh (feather) that is being inserted and the other ones is more “manual” where you can choose which feather to use. I left half of the feathers on a straight angle so you can easily bend them to suit your needs, the other half are sort of ready. I Hope you like them!

I’ll love to see what you do with them!

Cheers!
