DWIII Entry - The Glow of Lucifer

So I am also part of the big DW contest this year. My guy is going to carry a soul sucking lantern. Thought I would post here as I go along. Cheers and good luck all. The first image is the full chaarcter base and the 2nd is where he is at so far.

Looks brutal! I think a cloth in the back similar to his loin cloth would add to the brutality!

hey i saw your post on cgtalk. its looking good man.
only thing i could suggest at this point is perhaps make his hands bigger. right now they appear kinda small imo.

awesome

looking good! keep it up.

looking great man! love the design of it!

what does the helmet base mesh look like, can you post it?

Nice stance. I like his arms and chest. The abs look kind of like melting candle wax at this stage.

I don’t know if the anatomy is correct, BUT It is F…ing Cool!!

W1LLDAB3AST - Thanks. I might try that. More of a battle skirt than a loin cloth could be cool.

OrgoneGhost - Will do. That will be easier to do on the game res model.

Pr0ject - Thanks

N8 - I am trying. So many good entries this year

fabianloing - Thanks. I am worried he is too just a guy in armor. Nothing really unique about him yet.

rubent100 - Sure. I don’t have it open right now bit I can post later. Pretty simple.

Webhead - Yeah I was gong for sort of an undead look. I also knew I was going to have some armor over it so I beefed it up some so it did not get lost.

madmatt - Hah, I would say ther eis no chance it is correct.

Some more work here and there on this guy. Obviously I have just started the lower body. Thanks for the crits

it’s coming along good. The anatomy (what you can of it) on the torso looks good… The armor is very clean!
Looking forward to your next update.

Nice work and progress!
I like the muscle structure. I dont have any suggestions, its damned cool. Cant wait to see more updates

i love his proportions man. good job.

and how did you do those tears in the cloth man? Can u share it with us ?

SixxPixels - Thanks

AA-ron - Thanks. I hope I can finish in time

msoon2k - For the cloth I imported a plane from max. I suppose I could have used a Zplane. I then Masked out the area I did not want. I inverted the mask and then used the extract in the SubTools. In there there is all sorts of controls for thickness and smooth amount. Hope that helps.

Looks really good keep it up :+1:

very nice, would like to see how the armor was made.

It’s looking awesome so far! I think battle cloths similar to a Theron Guards’ from the game Gears of War would fit the style of your character perfectly. Keep up the wonderful work!

thanks for the xplaination dude. I thought you had actually modelled the cage of the cloth in that fashion prior to bringing it into zbrush.

Will u be exporting the cloth outside of zbrush later on? Or are you going to zbrush render it . ?

ManDarK - thanks. The clock is tiking fast

rubent100 - Pretty simple. I did a pretty average base mesh, no detailing. I upres’d the plates. Made a mask for the lines I want to extrude. I then used the deformation to inflate the inverted mask. Some simple dots for rivets after that.

W1LLDAB3AST - Agreed. My first attempt below

msoon2k - everything will be going into max for normal map and ambient occlusion ripping onto a lower polygon model.

Worked on more of a battle skirt. Armor bits will be attached onto it at towards the bottom. One of the thigh armors had to go. I really want the gloth to look thick. I may have made too many wrinkles and made it look too thin. I have to call this soon and move on. Not much time left.

JesseBrophyDWIII_37.jpg

Really nice progression on the model. How much time is left before the finals for DWIII are due?

Hah, I wish I were more skilled so I could partake in the event.
