Doodles

With the official release of 3DCoat V3.0, i would like to use the opportunity to show some 3DCoat/Zbrush doodles. I really love to use the two together. I have two workflows at the moment:

  • for organic meshes:

  • Do overall/rough shape with voxels
  • Retopo/Auto-Quadrangulation in 3DC
  • Sculpting and fine detail/polypaint in Zbrush
  • Examples below

Have a look at the demo here, im sure you will love it ;):

So . . . I’ve looked at 3dc and I love that you have found a nice workflow. Isn’t 3dc also better at polypainting? What are 3dc renders like then?

Very Cool Erklaerbar - love the designs

Erklaerbar,

Wonderful designs. I love the dragon head. I REALLY like your use of color.
I can’t wait to see more!

Dickie

love your work especially
the work "A rather methaphoric interpretation of a neuron:
on page 4…
… the green sphere is especially great…was that rendered in Zbrush
what was the material for it… and the lighting setttings.?
Thanks again

sgrell, 3DC renders are ok, the DOF rocks and its fast. Im just used to ZBrush, same goes for painting.
FoOD, thank you!
Dickie, thanks a lot!
vedanta, thank you. Yes it is a Zbrush render. Sorry to say that its not a free material. It can be found in my signature.

made a better render of the dragon head:)
EDIT: replaced with final version

goodnight doodle:

nice one  :+1:

The guy coming out of the wall is cool. Waiting for someone to do Han Solo in Carbon Freeze like that.

the final image is really lovely~~~~~~~~~
I also like this concept and render:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

WOW! :grimacing:

This is by far some of my favorite abstract works. :+1:

You seem to have a quick turn around, how long do these take on average?

Disco Stu, caffeineandpixels and weiluntsai: thank you!
Aberrant: Ideally it should fit into an evening

I envy you! haha that’s a quick turn around for some of these, they look really time consuming and detailed.

I am curious to know how you get so much content done so quickly. Do you have any tutorial links that you have used for creating abstract shapes and patterns?

 I love that last image!

Aberrant, some took a lot longer. However not necessarily the complex ones
I love to use Hexagon for most of this stuff. It has some very straightforward options to create very complex meshes from simple ones procedurally.
In Zbrush you can do very complex stuff with the insert mesh brush and radial symmetry.

Intervain, thank you:)

I’ve just gone through this whole thread there’re some amazing stuff, I really feel inspired. Wonderful work throughout…

I would like expand a bit more about the 3DC and Zbrush workflow described earlier. Zbrush does an awesome job converting the voxel ma(e)ss into a ready model. You can use it to clean up, regroup and decimate the direct voxel output from 3DC.

1.) Clean up: Randomly flipped polygons will be fixed in decimation master
2.) Isolated Voxel “drop” islands can be detected via autogroups, it will also show you if there are still flipped polygons
3.) Autogroups is a good starting point for regrouping and splitting into subtools.
4.) Decimation master really brings down your voxel model to unexpected lows. The resulting mesh can be used in further applications. The only restriction is that the mesh shouldnt be deformed after decimation.
Mr. Ill and his boom box are 50k polies. The glider is 120k polies.

All modelling in voxels, Conversion with ZB:

Ahh those are great! Love your style man. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: mmm hmm
I’m going to check out 3DC right now… :warning:

man,your work is awesome,I very love it,how do?Teach me,please,please,have you MSN or other,PM me ,please,please.
