Dmitrij Leppée Sketchbook

What exactly is that lifelong service to mankind?
The times where religion influenced our lifes here in europe is
long gone.
The reason that you dont see a lot of muhammed sculpts is simply
because radical muslims are ****ing lunatics and i dont want to die
for a lie that was founded a few hundred years after ours.
Maybe you should accept that we are far to aware of the evolution of earth
to believe in this medieval hocus pocus.
Religion is a guideline to good moral values and a way to cope with
the loss of loved ones and its still good for that, but everything further
… well your a few hundred years late for that.

POINT TAKEN I HOPE!

Digging the echorche cherub, how long did it take you.
No hard feelings on that one rage post in my thread i think i might have
a few of them in here myself

Hey Disco! Thanks! It took me exactly 10 days, but it’s so damn hot here so I’d work on it about 2-3 hours a day, counting in the retopo in topogun (oh yeah I love it!) But the muscles are going rather faster, it started raining and I’ve already done half of them major ones today

Yeah same here its like a rainforest but i wont complain after that awefull
winter
Seems like a pretty exhausting retopo job even with topogun ^^

Religion is a hell of a lot more than what you think it is and if you do not understand the tremendous good that the church does throughout the world then you are just a simple minded fool and there is no point in discussing it with you. From other posts I have seen of yours it appears and I can only assume that you are very young inexperienced little closet troll that has not yet breathed the air of life properly. Get out there and have a look for yourself and before you vaporize you may just see the glory that you seem to be missing now.
PS Do not bother to reply or be a little smart ass - you are in the ignore list and I will not be back to this thread.
Live well if you dare.

Rabbit,

Perception is not absolution and cannot be construed as such.
It is for you, what you believe it to be, and for others what they believe.
The more you impose, the more risible it becomes.

Live and let live. No one owes you reparation nor justification for their creation.
If you don’t like what is on TV, change the channel or turn it off.

Such a fool.
Ignore list and his attitude are pretty close.

Krugerman said: “I think that Rabbit77 is a bit sensitive about this but he makes good points and if you read some of the posts they are pretty negative to the pope like eg “lock uo your daughters” etc.
He also makes a very salient point about the Muhammed issue. I see no character depictions of Muhammed in here and it really makes me feel that the guy has a very strong case.
I am no Christian but I feel that the liberal, negative and naive tone towards Christians is uncalled for and this guy is bringing this point to light which is his right.
I tend to agree with him and the art work is not that strong at all. There are serious character flaws in it and the likeness is definitely in the area of a “CHARACATURE” rather than a “Life Study” which puts it in a political, theosophical and moral context and that is part of satire which is what Rabitt77 is getting at if I read him correctly. So think a little bit about it before you start tearing down this guy.
A message for Rabbit77 - there is a tendency in the US to tell people to lighten up or to chill out etc and this is not bad advice but I recognize that if you always chill out then chaos and anarchy follow but this may be a bit too intellectual for some of these cats in here.”

Hey Krugerman, well you say it isn't strong someone else says it is, it's public opinion as far as I'm concerned. As far as life study goes, I come across this often times when my works are open to criticism, and all I can say to it I'm not going for photo realism, I'm doing a portrait in a somewhat impressionistic manner. I doubt it can be more lively that that, establishing a connection between the pope and myself, or whoever, much more than copying persons, as far as I go anyways. You say it like it's a bad thing :D Thanks.

For some strange reason my previous post got deleted, although I believe it was reasonable and without any bashing or insults.
All I said and I’ll say it again is, that anybody is entitled to have his own opinion about the pope and the institution Vatikan, just as the pope has the right to spread his message.Criticism of the Catholic Church and those representing it is certainly legit, especially when one cares to learn more about the political history of the church. The very present history of events in fact calls for a critical discussion and this is an opinion even shared by quite a few official members of the catholic church who strive for a very necessary improvement.

That being said, I of course have to admit that I understand if the moderators think that such discussions do not belong to Zbrushcentral.
Occasionally that is almost unavoidable though, since often artworks here do not only showcase pure aesthetics but also content or even a story as practically any image does. Usually it is even necessary to discuss content vs visual translation and execution.
Only when the content touches such a delicate subject as religion it is unfortunately prone to conflicts.

Not easy and I don’t quite see the perfect solution for how to handle it on this platform.

One other thing I’d like to mention in that regard is, that artists are by nature often very passionate personalities and people with such a strong passion for their work are usually no less passionate about their opinions.

Any Christian, Moslem., Buddhist etc… here does without doubt deserve basic respect for his views, but that should not be a one way street. Those who don’t share those views deserve just the same respect and freedom to express their opinion as long as expressed without intentional personal insults.

Well said Julian_K. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hasan

We must not forget the excellent and famous portrait of pope that Velasquez painted. The famous reference of Bacon’s pope’s portraits. Its not about religion. Its about mankind. Its about power. Its about democracy, its about free minded people, its about what means “individual”
Great portrait once again. :+1:

Thanks guys! Hope no one get offended by this one. Speed sculpt I made just now before my vacation starts.

See you, have fun!

Great!!!
You had to model this too. Well done.

Hahahahaha great one Cherub. Druze Tito mi ti se kunemo !!!

I knew it was you when I saw thumbnail
I think you should push this one more towards caricature.

This isn’t exactly the best place to have a religious debate. I prefer not to, and I am hesitant to say something, if not for the fact that, I had a relative molested by a priest in the 1950’s. That priest was simply moved to another church and never punished for what he did. I’m sure your church has done some positive things throughout the world. Unfortunately, it has also been responsible for several atrocities in more recent times, and throughout history that you are apparently not aware of.
I do agree with you that some religions are much easier targets than other religions are.
However, I also feel that the Catholic Church has painted a target on it’s own back due to it’s involvement in innumerable cases of sex scandals that have continuously gushed forth in the news like an out of control BP oil well. I don’t know what role the Pope may have played in a cover-up, if any. However, if it’s true, that the Pope did allow children to be molested, and turned a blind eye to it, then, I don’t care what good he may, or may not have done; He and all the perpetrators should be punished by law for it. Anyone who would molest a child - an innocent and helpless person - should not even refer to himself as a Christian. That person, himself, does more harm to Christianity, Christ, the name of the God he claims to represent, and the teachings of his faith, than any critic ever could. That person is where your anger should really be directed at, and not at the messenger. Lastly, I don’t think using the term “STFU” is the best way to win friends and influence people. Doesn’t seem like the type of expression Christ would use either.

Same as montyband, I knew it was yours from the thumbnail :sunglasses:. I like how
you make the sculpt seem really humorous, this one and the pope. It’s like you
have revealed what we are all thinking about them.

Thanks.

Thank you so much guys! I will try to take this further. SadamHu, thank you, that means a lot!

Aurick, it’s a special pleasure to have you here as well too bad you’re not offering me a job though

Oh wow. Recognized him immediately. Great job! Made me laugh

Hey there Super Moderator.
All you said was fine by me except I looked and all the stuff you said you were going to delete - hmmmmmmmmmmm - well half the stuff is gone but the stuff that caused the indignation in the first place is still there.

So what exactly are you saying man???

If you are going to censor people then do it even handedly and not with this lame liberal approach.
Get rid of any negative statement anybody made about the pope or any insinuation too. The image may or may not be good art but its effect is too indicate some very nasty overtones towards this great man who happens to be the leader of a chruch with almost 2 billion devotees.

So as I said - DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WILL and not this half hearted garbage. I am really ticked off with the disrespect shown to The Pope and I am not even a christian!!! Some of you people really need to grow up a bit!!!
