For some strange reason my previous post got deleted, although I believe it was reasonable and without any bashing or insults.
All I said and I’ll say it again is, that anybody is entitled to have his own opinion about the pope and the institution Vatikan, just as the pope has the right to spread his message.Criticism of the Catholic Church and those representing it is certainly legit, especially when one cares to learn more about the political history of the church. The very present history of events in fact calls for a critical discussion and this is an opinion even shared by quite a few official members of the catholic church who strive for a very necessary improvement.
That being said, I of course have to admit that I understand if the moderators think that such discussions do not belong to Zbrushcentral.
Occasionally that is almost unavoidable though, since often artworks here do not only showcase pure aesthetics but also content or even a story as practically any image does. Usually it is even necessary to discuss content vs visual translation and execution.
Only when the content touches such a delicate subject as religion it is unfortunately prone to conflicts.
Not easy and I don’t quite see the perfect solution for how to handle it on this platform.
One other thing I’d like to mention in that regard is, that artists are by nature often very passionate personalities and people with such a strong passion for their work are usually no less passionate about their opinions.
Any Christian, Moslem., Buddhist etc… here does without doubt deserve basic respect for his views, but that should not be a one way street. Those who don’t share those views deserve just the same respect and freedom to express their opinion as long as expressed without intentional personal insults.
