The attitude to the Pope that some of you are displaying here is nothing short of dispicable and shows how terribly uneducated you really are. Pope Benedikt XVI is a great man who has spent his entire life serving humanity which is a lot more than what any of you snivelling little joy stick riders have ever done or ever will do. So I’m sorry. I think it’s hard for me to get a sense of a person and what he feels good with over the internet, so I’ll sometimes loose my head and speak of what I’d like to see instead of appreciate the work of another person. But it’s no excuse.

There is nothing offensive or cheap about the art, be it of the pope, or whatever figure adored or despised by however many. It’s actually exceedingly well executed.
You have no legitimate criticism, only that it’s something that you, personally, object to. Well, great, but I lament to inform you that in artistic circles your point of view is not widespread. And, whatever your religious allegiance may be, if you take it so seriously, perhaps a place where artists are not censored is not for you.
So, let’s see your Pietà or Sistine Chapel, something righteous and philanthropic that puts this abhorrent blasphemy to shame.
I think that Rabbit77 is a bit sensitive about this but he makes good points and if you read some of the posts they are pretty negative to the pope like eg “lock uo your daughters” etc.
He also makes a very salient point about the Muhammed issue. I see no character depictions of Muhammed in here and it really makes me feel that the guy has a very strong case.
I am no Christian but I feel that the liberal, negative and naive tone towards Christians is uncalled for and this guy is bringing this point to light which is his right.
I tend to agree with him and the art work is not that strong at all. There are serious character flaws in it and the likeness is definitely in the area of a “CHARACATURE” rather than a “Life Study” which puts it in a political, theosophical and moral context and that is part of satire which is what Rabitt77 is getting at if I read him correctly. So think a little bit about it before you start tearing down this guy.
A message for Rabbit77 - there is a tendency in the US to tell people to lighten up or to chill out etc and this is not bad advice but I recognize that if you always chill out then chaos and anarchy follow but this may be a bit too intellectual for some of these cats in here.
