not bad at all, nice details.
Good job man! I love this thread.
Sad that the link to the matcaps 1 and 2 doesn’t work anymore
@rouncer - thanks appreciate it
@shapard - thanks man, I let my site lapse, see if I can get those reposted
cheers
-d
Thanks!
I’ll be waiting, your models and your materials are amazing!
Thanks for the vote of confidence shepard
I will try to update at least some of those mats and get them posted at some
point.
Some more work on the concept of this guy, moving toward a lich-king/mage-ish
sort of thing I think. Hating the nose and some other detailing so probably
re-work them at some point. Iron crown next then some clothing I think.
Sort of slapping on the paint trying to figure out where and what.
Cheers all
BPR render with highpass and some light modification/addition in PS.
@Slocik - yeah you were spot on with the anatomy issues. This this was and
is shot to crap. I will just keep fiddling with it as a learning tool and just trash
the model at some point.
So that being said here is a more emaciated version. Not sure that I actually
want him to look this way but I feel that it helped get things in better
proportion (note I do not say “correct” ).
I picked up a medical skull some time back for drawing ref and
have been staring at it. Next session going to dig around for ref, just been
doing this by eye. well on the plus side I more clearly know where to focus
for now.
Crown to do, teeth to fix, porportions to continue correcting ect, ect…
So keep the creative crits going to so I get better at perceiving the issues,
hopefully before they are issues eventually.
Cheers
Came accross this site in doing some searching for facial/head reference
thought someone else may find it helpful
http://fei.edu.br/~cet/facedatabase.html
site is a little slow for d/l, at least on my connection
Ok so that last character is gonna give me nightmares…and that’s a good thing coz I like being spooked…reminds me of old vamp films
Thanks redpandaful, but for all that its back to the drawing board me thinks
ah well onward and upward (I hope)
Im really, really starting to hate this guy. Ok that done here is
an update, all manner of fixes still to do both form and detail.
(preview render with extractions in photoshop for light/reflect/shadowing)
nice presentations, going to rework some my images and make a template
thanks openstheway, need to make a new one for myself actually.
cheers.
Looks awesome Dman!
thanks Ralph
nice renders, really like that vampire looking dude
Whoa thanks slord
the back of his jaw really needs to be sharper ;D nice last render btw.
@slocik - ty, and oh yeah for sure, bit more angle rather than a slope,
starting ears and back of skull in next session, will get it then
funny enough the render is just a preview render with pshop fun;)
anyone want a walk through of the process let me know
Alrighty then, updated ears, Jaw line, front face detaling (minor).
Back of head/neck/chest next. Do not often have more than an hour or 2
for Z so gotta pick my battles, anyway…
No real idea where to go past that just started this as a face sculpting
exercise but I think it will be a little more, maybe lol.
As before hope progress shows, never can really be sure
sometimes if you know what I mean.
Cheers
Oh as before single preview render, coolness added post.
suggestion for direction… use it as an excuse to practice translucency effects in black and white… its easy enough (ha) to pull off subcutaneous translucency using color and laying down your details over details… but the black and white looks awesome there… why not use it to see how far you can push texture realism in a black and white medium
