Hello everyone, I’ve been seeing all these cool sketchbooks around! So I figured I would give it a try and post one up. Might help change the daily routine of work
So here is a quick base sculpt I worked on.

Really nice design of the character.
Thx’s snake, I’ve actually just been going with it… no real idea with it.
So started a rough sculpt for the lion head on his chest plate. I’ll need to retopo
at some point, but current its the simple base mesh.
Hi migusan76! Cool start man! Keep goin’! !
thx’s etcher!! Here is some clean up on the lion head, I’ll retopo at this point before I fully refine it with details.
Very interesting sculpts, and lovely topology there too
Looking forward to seeing more:)
Looking good,
I dont really understand why you put lion head on his chest. He himself is animal . Some cool armor detailing would be better choice in my opinion
your retopology exceeds your sculpt. Equalize it.
petekasim - Thx’s, I plan on doing much more.
Kravit - I plan on doing alot of armor detail as well, I just looked at alot of reference for greek armor and film armor, and they always have these cool figures on them. Just figured a lion is a pretty strong symbol for a warrior.
Mikeporetti - I’m pretty compulsive about my topology, I usually only do rough sculpts to get my overall figure and shape with base topo. I plan on equalizing it, I just rather have my topo near a final one so when I reproject I don’t run into to many problems.
so got a quick chance to retopo the lion head so I can reproject and refine it with more detail… Also video captured the whole retopo process. When I get a chance I’ll recode videos and upload…

I think you compromised the design for the sake of the chest armor. I liked it when the horns swept back out more. It added interest and animation. I’d rather see you tweak the chest plate than his head.
Dustin
Hi Peter, Great work, what are you using to do your retopology with, the movie makes it look like fun and not a science…
Keep it up…
Ziggy.
dustinbrown - I’ve never really had a design… I have just been free styling it as I go. I do have a set of reference that I’m influenced by. I’ll post it up so everyone can be clearer on where I want to take it. Plus the old horns for rendering and modeling purposes weren’t very practical.
Sigmund - who is peter…? Thx’s, I like to sculpt in zbrush and take it over to maya and using the NEX pluginI can retopo very fast and it is loads of fun to just snap dots and create your mesh…

I think the horns look a little goofy laying right against it’s body. I think you should gradually raise them op off it’s body. They could still curve downward like the musk ox, or you could have them curl up like a water buffalo.
You might want to also look at the Minotaurs in “The Chronicles of Narnia” movies:

Sorry I see Peter is one of the guys replying to your post…
Thanks, I was on the point of using Maya when I bumped into Modo, I am really impressed with Maya’s retopo tool, hope ZB’s 3.5 has a surprise for us, that is when it eventually comes about…
Thx
Anyone know when the Mac version of the free trial is coming out???
caffeineandpixels - Awesome thx’s for the links, I see what your saying. When I get a chance I’ll go back and try some varations on the horn and see what comes out. You should shoot Digital raster an email and ask them…
Sigmund - Yea I’ve been using maya for ages so the fact the NEX plugin lets me retopo in there is great. I used to try to use Zbrush’s topo tool, but It was just to buggy for my taste.
Here is an update on the ox creature. Started to retopo the base for scultping and playing around with form changes. Also here are two quick 5hr creature sculpts for fun.

Here is a wolf man I’m working on.
