Terrific job on this!!!
wow so many comments, itās becoming hard to reply to all
@Maxter: thanks mate!
@InkySpot: thanks! the result will be known in some days, but the competition is full of great works from great friends
@jmenna: thanks man! i love your works so this is an honour!
@Kc-Production: no matter how it will end, it was fun to compete and to have fun modeling it.
@Nazedo: thanks man, now hurry up and finish your work also following DrDanko suggestions on render
@MmAaXx: eh ma il tuo non ĆØ mica da meno!
@sculptor.zb: thanks man!
@SolidSnakexx: man you know you are one of my favs zbrushers, so every time you comment one of my works this is a real honour!
@rolilli: youre welcome man! i hope you like it!
@Jerick: thanks
@piz: thanks piz, i couldnāt believe this
@gwainbarek: thanks!
@njorog3: thanks mate, i will keep you updated with the contest
@Goobatastic: i tried to set a background, but as the model is colorful and i wanted to drive the attention on him i preferred in the end to give a clean environment
@The Namek: thanks man, the lightcap helped a lot in creating a convincing diffuse pass, and this is the key factor for this render. and then playing with the settings i extracted the other passes that i comped later in ps. for the cloth, i used the technique of painting in ps the fabric texture and then applying it as a displacement map (not real deformation), saving me also from having a super dense mesh on clothes.
@Darukin: actually i am a bit busy having to close about a dozen of jobs (to finish this joker i slowed down some work, and now this is the result!!!:D), but i will find 30 minutes in the following week to create a step by step video showing the breakdown for the render and compositing part, seems complicated but as already said above, once you get a cool diffuse lighting the rest is only a matter of finding the right mix for specular and reflections (and sss and eventually fresnel). i used basically 3 simple standard material (a 100%diffuse, a 100%specular and a 100% environment reflection), a fast overlay to drive a mask for sss and fresnel, and a modified framer to create a cavity render.
@FabioPaiva: thanks!
@Teomaco: grazie caro!
@fra: grazie fratturio! mo tocca a te però!
@Gurjeet Singh: thanks man!

Awesome! Well deserved! Congratulations Daniele!
Absolutely Amazing Joker!!!Perfect!
Only the revolver is a little bit to undetailed or something like this
But awesome anyway
great work
the joker is awesome m8y. spot on
Love the composition, materials and lighting. Sweet sculpt for the expression as well.
great the hair looks amazing (great great great great)
This is an awesome artwork and so great to see a big juicy render of it on here. I would love to have been shown this years back and be told this is what gets produced in Zbrush in the future, even rendered in Zbrush, hair and all. You have certainly mastered a lot of skills and put a great amount of work into detailing in order to produce an outstanding artwork. Congrats on the top row too.

@Asecbrush, ricor, joe55, leo sakamoto, phosforced, kakabento, 3xtgy, sleepfight, Armand Burger, Arran J Lewis: thanks guys! i am glad you liked it!
i am currently finishing voiceovering the photoshop part of the video about how i rendered the joker, in the meantime i hope you will enjoy the zbrush part (pretty simple stuff, nothing fancy). as already said i was not so happy to share the workflow because you will realize what simple kind of setup is it
:D. just kidding, i hope you will find some informations useful, i think that the bpr right now is a real powerhouse to create still images as it donāt force you to loose eons in exporting and prepping subtools for other render engines. also, there are some guys really able to unleash the real power of it, but you can also take an approach similar to mine to use it to create simple passes for compositing work
here it is, i hope you enjoy those, tomorrow i will upload the other two and then make a quick one for the fabrics setup (another easy setup, i like to always keep it as simple as possible :P)
everything about the joker is perfect. congrats its truly a masterpiece.
Thanks d-pan! i have finished voiceovering and uploading all the videos. I want to remember that FREE registration is required in order to view the videos. tomorrow i will also upload the ones on making fabric.

Hi Danko another great jobā¦!
And thanks for the new videos, they are always appriciatedā¦
Regards Ziggy
Really helpful tutorials DANKO, you talk about recent and complex subjects and put a lot of time in explaning them from the really basics. will be great to check your workflow. If I can create an image that has half the quality than your Joker it will be already a huge step. Thanks!
Great stuff. Really well explained. Your English is great, no need to apologize.
Wow! Thank you so much for the free turorial, Sir! small_orange_diamond
