Daily Zketch

Ok one more metal thingie. They’re actually quite fun.
This one was done while listening to a lesson in working with mocap. and the scrit aslo if anyone want to see it. The script might end a bit abruptly since i actually had part of my playing with different rendering and materiel settings in it also but i cut that out since it was very boring to see but i didn’t find the exact right place to cut so, it ends when it ends :).

kircho-I don’t really have any specific reason for starting with a sphere like this, but i don’t really like to model with that few polygons. Moveing on vertex at time really dosent feel to nice in Z-brush, also i thin that just pushing and pulling a sphere that is this dense really letsme explore the forms more. If i wanted to do something reallly serious i would spend more time on the base.
And definetely z-brush is the coolest:+1:

I dub this one ,no inspiration model of the week. I lost all inspiration and will to work on it shortly after strting on it. Ahh figured i might post it anyway.

And since z-brush crashed while i was working on it a dont have the script for it either, but i’m uploading the script for the previous model since i forgot to do that in the last post.

on that last model, which I like a lot, what’s your method for creating the eye area. I’m currently working on a head model and i’m working with the eye area, but it’s not by any means easy. I like your eyes on that mesh though. how’d you do it?

Thnx Abxy. For the eyes i basiacaly use pixolators fisheye mehod. If you look at page 2 towads the end and begining of page 3 there are pretty detailed instructions there.

Hello Moebius
I m relatively new to modelling in Zbrush and I was wondering if you could explain to me how you get so beautiful cuts and scratch… I tought I found something when I discover the Zcut mode under the Decobrush tool but I never came near your results with it… is that just a stroke/intensity/draw size setting ?
very informative thread btw… thanx a lot for sharing your tricks

This tutorial shows one approach to those skin lines.

Thanx for pointing me that Aurick … usefull stuff
any other suggestions ?? this script was more body-oriented …the lines in a face need a bit more precision than the alpha workflow depicted in this tutorial…I m sure multiple alphas and time could make the job but I m just trying to see if there s a tool or a brush setting I am missing when I see the job of Moebius…
thanx

Hi dktrheadache,

I think the thread you just might be looking for is this one:

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=875&highlight=rhino+skin

Skycastle shows how he did his rhino skin using fairly basic but extremely effective technique. And if I remember right…he just uses tools available…nudge, inflate etc.

Dktrheadache,

I recommend having a play around with the stencil feature in zbrush for facial wrinkles, as well as the deco brush. I think skycastle demos it in the tutorial aminuts pointed out. It allows finer control of where you place the wrinkles than the stamping method i used in my tut. You can use a custom alpha to paint in the wrinkles. Then invert the stencil and paint the raised skin folds with inflate, whilst the stencil masks the wrinkles you have just added. Its a more lengthy process but you need more control for the facial areas.

Also, the quality of the wrinkles is dependent on how high the polycount of the model is. If your computer spec will allow it, you could probably do with at least one further subdivision level in order to hold the finer details better.

Hope this helps.

big thanx for your help guys  your links, tips and tricks have made me navigate and read enough to answer my questions and learn much more…
don t want to hijack the thread of Moebius longer about that…
big :+1: to all the community btw… It s really cool how Pros share their tricks and how newbies gather together to solve anybody problem… It made me much more relax when I ran into a wall in Zbrush because I know that I just have to ask to get a great deal of support…:sunglasses:

Dktrheadache-90 percent of the wrinkles on these models are actually painted on using the bump materiel. Mainly because of the speed which you can throw them on with. And then for final render i load them on as diplacements. Other wrinkles are just a combination of standard edit tool and pinch.
On the model you used as an example i actually had to smal resoöution on the bump, which is the reason the wrinkles on top of the head look pretty much horrible.

Hope it helps.

hi moebius, I like a lot what you are doing;) .
Maybe this link can help yuo to recover the inspiration. http://www.rionvernon.com/NewFiles/main.html

Finally i’m done with the project i was working on for the last five weeks and i can now go back to playing in z-brush. Anyways did this one for fun yesterday. not to much detail but the base is allright except for the eyes which i hate. Think i need to sit down and do a bunch of eyes. Anyways enjoy, oh yeahh i really should have given him a santa… hood? hmmm don’t remember the right word in english right now. Anyway hope ya like it.
