Daily Zketch

That’s a great face, moebious, put a glow material on him and stick him up in a night sky. Thanks for the script. 50.

I too have started the sketch a day approach with ZBRush. We got it at work a little while back and I just got into it recently. Instead of a daily sketch, I have only gotten the time for a weekly sketch. But what a blast! I love this, it is the closest I have come to my daily white board doodles as far as ineratcion appeal

Here are my three first sketches using Zbrush. In each one I started with a model from Maya (A really junky one, just to get my edgeflow and UV’s). On the two most recent ones I exported a cage and displacement map for rendering. I am now trying to wrap my brain around all of the features in Zbrush that will replace my current production work flow.

None of these models took longer than 2 hours (including Maya session) Zbrush deserves an academy award.

Good to see you here Anders…nice work! :+1:

D

Haha, small world

I got a black, fluffy bunny named Wednesday who
will eat you snail guy for breakfast, lunch and
dinner. She always takes my hand apart with
her claws, if I am late with breakfast and she
likes me
neilford

Darn right Neilford, the bunnies are going to take over just as soon as their armada returns from cullung the galaxy!

Abeer - nice work, very nice.

Great stuff, just the sorta quality I like in animation characters.

Don’t throw things like this away! Upload the model so other people can bat them around

That would be too hard, the ztool file is like 60megs!:frowning:

Ok today my ztl bugged out on me and somehow didn’t get saved, i swear i pressed save tool and did everything, but i did save the script. Anyway this means the big picture is just two “golden oldies” done before i started this daily thread. The hellboy ripoff was also made to try out the topology brush in silo, the reason why i didn’t detail it anymore.

daily12Standin.jpg

And the wery small pic you get when saving a zscript. Mainly playnig with the shape and having fun here. Zcript at the bottom also.

shhh - The whole reason i started this thread was to make me remember to save my models before i close z-brush down:), so no more do they get wasted. I’ll probably upload the scripts for most models from now on. So Have fun and all.

abeer - The one at the top has some real cartoony character. Cool to see him animated. Ok on a sidenote. I really meant for this thread to be more or less just for my dailies:), think it might get very messy if a lot of people start posting dailies in a single thread, lots and lots of pages. SHould probaly have called the trhead something like Daily zketh of Moebius or something, but since noone else was doing it i didn’t think of it. But hey why don’t you start one of your own, would be cool if a lot of people started doing dailies, or weeklies or whatever.

:o Oops, sorry, I definitely misread your post to mean “post your daily sketch here” but in context with the rest of the threads I can see that was foolish of me.

I have grown fond of the character you refer to. He is a bit crude from the stand point of having too little mobile definition in the lower lip and even the eye lids. But it would not take too much to rectify that. Perhaps I will take a stab at animating him, thanks for the feedback

With regard to your sketch work. Are you for the most part starting all your sketches with primitives or z-shperes in Zbrush?

Evil mask of stuff today. I’ve made a lot of these kinds of masks, for some reason i find it very relaxed and fun.

daily13.jpg

abeer - No problems mate:).
I tend to use the sphere primitive when i want to just have fun and play with shapes and forms. Don’t have the same restrictions regarding where i put the mouth or ears or whatnot. I think it’s a lot more fun and creative. But if i have a more clear idea what i want to make i tend to use z-spheres. And then of course there’s masks which i use a plane for.

This one is simply beautiful, it has presence.

very nice moebius. i love the mouthpiece of the mask. it kinda reminded me of spawn from far away… but that’s just me.

dado

Ok this one was actually started in wings were i played around for something like an hour, and then z-brushed. And one again i managed to fudge stuff up, this time by losing the bump map for this character so no details here.

I love the mask…very nice work.

Gay in last image…He is Ork?I like it…realy nice…

Okay so i shouldn’t really call it dailies anymore since it like two weeks since i last had any time to play in Z2. But still feels like i might as well post these pics here.
Basiacaly i just did these two to prove to a guy i’m studying with that it is possible to create sharp edges in Z2.
really need to sit down and do something serious in Z2 one of these days. Anyways enjoy.

Something serious one of these days?

U killing me…

Hi moebius,
Thanks for sharing your Zbrush sketches. Its amusing to see such a great veriaty of forms and features, welldone! :+1:
Saving your z-scripts is also a great idea. I think one of the best uses to come out of such a feature is the ability to monitor and adjust accordingly ones workflow for increasing speed and productivity.

I noticed through out most of the scripts you shared with us that you begin with a sphere. You might find , considering your a " head modeler-aholic" like me, that starting with a different object , with some useful flow of topology, would decrease the amount of time your spending defining a pleasing silouhett and contours for your models. Also why not take advantage of zbrush multi-resolution modelling?

I tend to start with this when I’m sketching out my forms , if it progresses well I usually add a few polygons for the eyes and nose, but because its a sketch most times thats not nessesary.

Aside from that, is’nt zbrush soooo cooool:)hehehe:D
