Daily Zketch

Oki One more done. Yesterday i didn’t get anything done, had no inspiration for some reason but at least i felt somewha inspired today. For some strange reason none of the wrinkes could be seen on this one when i rendered with the same settings i used on the violator, so i got bored and made a crappy rendering where they shoved up. Should really fix the nose somewhat on this one also but don’t feel like it right now so Anyways enjoy.

Sadicus i don’t really remember what level i was on when i made the teeth but i think it was something like 6 or 7 will check it when i get home.

Keep them coming whenever inspiration comes. Great stuff.

Allrighty then. Not to happy with this one. This one should really have been textured to work, but i’m busy busy right now. Anyways Enjoy the weird parrot all.

Hi Moebius,
Your work is awesome. Cen you tell me how did you do such a beautiful eyes?

bravo:+1: :+1: :+1:

Here’s how I keep the smoothness of the eye… I start with a sphere and mask part of it until late in my modeling. Any other ideas?
Moebius - how do you do it?

Thnx guys.

I’m using the same technique that pixolator uses in his fish movie. Basicaly using a sphere as a displacement with projection master. It’s really kinda easy, as long as you turn of normalised and fade in the projection master settings. I’m uploading a script of how it works so you can check it out. Note this was done in like a couple of seconds so it looks kinda ugly but it’s how i work. i just tend to be more careful when fixing things.
One more thing i have found is kinda nice is to create the eyeball using this technique and then shaping the brow and stuff around the eye so it looks good. This will most of the time destroy the eyeball, distorting it and stuff, so then i smooth it and then displacing a new eyeball.
Don’t know if this makes sense but i have to run now. Hope it helps.

i watched your zscript and i cant tell… did you use projection master for this? every time i use projection master to do eyes the new displacement ‘collapses’ on itself… if this doesnt make sense i’ll try to post a screenshot of what is happening… (this even happens on high density meshes by the way!)

Ok one more down. Didn’t have that much time today so i kinda rushed it. But hopefully you’ll like anyway.

I.m uploading the z-script of the modeling also. Some notes about the script though. One it’s kinda long, two don’t really think you can learn that much from it, three i found it kinda boring (might have something to do with the fact that i had just modeled it myself), four it shuld probaly be edited but i don’t hav the time. Now if you want to watch the script anyway therse one more thing, at one point i’m using smart resym abort that, i did that while modeling so there might be bugs if you don’t do it when playing the script. Not sure though. Oh yeah and i don’t usually have that much with the eyes, really annoying since those were part of the reason i figured i’d do a script:rolleyes: well well…
Oh and one more thing i usually don’t start with a ball like this unless i just want to do something really quick and just be able to ignore structure. Even though i probably don’t save any time in the end:).

testure: Have you tried to use it but with the normalise and fade setting off, this should fix the problem. at least i did for me:)

testure : Pretty annoying aint it…what the heck is that “collapsing” all about, anyone?

moebius : great stuff even for a quick one.

giant thnx for the nice comment man. And i guess that what you mean here “what the heck is that “collapsing” all about, anyone?” is that you want to know why everything collapses, right.

Disclaimer: The pic in this post is not todays Daily it is just here as an explanation, thats why it’s not really mys usual style:)

Uhmm ok i’m like 95 percent sure about this explanation, but it makes sense from the knowledge i have.
I really hope iv’e done this right so this pic don’t show up on the imagebar:).

Little Note, The camera is in front of the eye i’m only using a sideview for explanatory purposes.

Ok, color explanation below:
Red - Original geometry.
Green - The ball i’m using to displace the eye.
Blue - direction and distance the vertices will be displaced in.
Black - geometry after displacement.

Ok now to the two different failures.

 1. Here i have turned off normalised in the projection master settings, but fade is on. Now since fade is on the effect will lessen as the surface(red) is’nt facing the camera. Therefore the displacement won’t be strong enough at the top and bottom of the eye cavity.

 2. Here i have turned off fade in the projection master settings, but normalised is on. And since normalised is on the displacements will happen in the direction of the vertex normal, the direction(blue) the surface(red) is facing. At the top of the eye cavity this means downwards. This will just mush everything together.

 3. Well i didn’t draw this one but with both fade and normalised on the result would be a combination of both and really look ugly.

SOLUTION: Just turn off fade and normalised, and everyting should be fluffy bunny fun:+1:

That script must be on the front!

is not perfect but is a good script.-. :+1:

All fluffy bunny fun now.
Thanks a lot for clearing that one up Moebius.
 :+1:

Snailman of doom is coming to eat all the fluffy bunnies:).

daily9.jpg

Giant: Glad to be of help.
area: Thnx man.

and the script for the model if anybody wants to watch it. The scripts ends shortly before i add some of the final deatail but not to much difference.

I have a couple of Fluffy Bunnies (Roo and Poo) right here laughing at the challenge. They have wupped a Dalmation and a Tom cat. They have the claws of a grizzley, razor sharp teeth and they kick with a force that ‘Big Mac’ would envy in his swing. They say bring him on or keep the bunny jokes to out of it.

…funny snail man  :+1:

A bit stresseed today have to run to the trainstation now. So this one i count as finished now. Ok gotta run.

daily10.jpg

Excellent, robust modeling. Well done.

Ok once more i’ve had no time to spend on my daily. i’ll probably start posting them once a week instead, so i’ll post all the dailies from one week in one go, instead of trying to update every day. It 's gotten kinda stressful since i’m really suposed to work on low poly characters for school:). Z-brush characters unfortuanately don’t really fit that description.
Anyway here’s todays daily.

daily11.jpg

Jason-Of course the fluffy bunnies will win (they always do), but theyr’e so tasty so you have to try and eat them:).

3D smiley …
nice stuffs here… I like the last post…
