Cloudrider's Sketchbook WIP (First Post) (Nudity)

Here is a quick WIP, stylized male.

I have not had much time to sculpt lately so I updated an old model. I had to do some retopology in maya, a process I still find painful but do-able. I may actually complete this character unlike the rest. C&C are always welcome of course. These pinkish renders were done in Modo. Cheers.

This guy is turning out great
The torso area is what I like the most especially the pecs, delts and biceps!

Not sure about the angle of his hands though, think they needs to be straightened out more

I would also tone down the upper area of his thighs

Cheers,

//Jonas

Energise-I agree it was one of the first things I tried to fix this morning.

I also did a little polypainting and more tweaks.

Another quick update.

Amazing. I like the anatomy of his upper body. thumbs up

Have not updated in a while, mostly because I have been fighting with making the boots. After several iterations however, I ended up constructing the a base mesh for the boots one polygon at a time, just extruding in Maya.

Over all I like how it turned out so far, and it was an instructive experience. I should add that I loosely followed the guide provided by Cedric Seaut, especially on the eyelets of the boots.

The Sword WIP was done rather quickly as a base mesh again to have a solid structure to sculpt on. BootWip.jpg

you may want to rework your edge loops to get harder edges.

soulty~Yep, I might go back in throw some in, I have a work flow down out this point. But I will sculpt a bit in zbrush first and see where I am at, The Pommel has edge loops, but I was not sure if I liked the blade yet.

Quick update, thinking about the new Conan movie.

I just started with the new Head tool and pushed and pulled, exported to Maya, de-triangle, retopo-ed, and quick paint job and render.

Here is a shot of a new female I have been working on. This was done from scratch, but I think the body looks very similar to my last female body in this thread. That is probably due to common reference images. Anywho, I am trying to work through the 4R2 features and at the same time improve my anatomy.
Cheers, comments and criticisms are appreciated.

A little more work on the recent girl model.

The neck feels slightly on the masculine side, I’m afraid.

Jerick- You are probably right, arms too. I tend to over define the muscles and then go back and soften them. There has been something about the face that is wrong but I can’t put my finger on it. Thanks for the comment.

Drow.jpgI am really liking the improvements to Zbrush 4R2, but I still have so much to learn. I spent some time working on old models, and I am only posting this Dark Elf character. I started by making the mesh more stylized sort of Sean Galloway-ish, but as I push and pulled using some old Burne Hogarth references, the model took on a hybrid realistic/cartoony quality, that I kind of like. Who knows maybe I will make the time to actually finish this one.

I spent some time refining the model. I am not all that pleased with everything I did however. For instance, the elbow needs more work, the thigh is probably too long again, the pectoral muscles do not overlap correctly, and the trapezius is too puffy. Unfortunately, I probably won’t have a chance to fix those anytime soon, so I am noting the issues here so I won’t forget. At least while I am not working on him I can concept the gear, I was thinking Assassin leathers, and a fancy dagger, something along the lines of my Dark Soul’s character, which I love, because we have endured so much together

.

OK, I found a bit of time to fix my issues, could use more work.

Still needs lots of work, but I am liking where it is heading.

Though it still looks similar to the last female post, it represents a significant amount of rework. I suppose the similarity is a testament to anatomical flaws popping up again. I think I will stop here, delete all higher subdivisions and start again.
