Cesar Dacol Jr sketch book.

Hello Everyone.
Been a busy few day and haven’t had much time to get in here.
Yesterday we launched the Design class over at creatureworkshops.com
I think it went well, the first one is always a tough one as there’s so much material to get through allot of talking at the start. ^____^
Which cut into my sculpting time, we run at an average of 2hr sessions.
So the theme was monsters, and I went with Bigfoot. Just happened that way on the spot.
By the end of the 2 hr session I knew I had something that I liked but wasn’t satisfied… so I’m posting up
where I stopped during the class and I spent another 2 hours on it afterwards.
I just felt compelled to as I really liked some of the thing going on in the face.
I don’t plan on doing this very often, so I apologize to my students. But I just had to do it and if there’s one thing you’ll all learn about me
is that DOING is what I’m about, no regrets… life is too short.

mattj324 - Too kind Sir.

Kenshiro - Thank you, I kinda have an idea I want to try paint wise that just might make this character. There’s an old FX Makeup rule.
Nothing can save a bad paint job, but a bad sculpt can be made with great paint. Not that I’m saying I’m great at painting, far from it. Still learning.
But I do think, THINK that maybe, just maybe what I got going on in my mind could work. ^____-

Ok Back to it.

fantastic details

Great how you set yourself up with a challenge, and then set about overcoming it by whatever works, and by whatever means necessary…never stop learning something new using that method and approach, and never fall into that formula trap that stiffles the chance of finding out something new and unexpected…Great approach leading to creativity…:+1:
Looking forward to seeing the progress and final outcome…

Great work! Nice detailing! :+1:

Great and amazing technique. A real inspiration! Thank you for sharing!

Hi all,
Well this week has been a write off for me in terms of free time.
Finished up the Dino Pic, but can’t post it up until I reveal it at Pixel Show in Sao Paulo Brazil next weekend.
Other than that I have been swamped with work and just haven’t had a second to spare.
I’m hopeful that next week will be more fruitful in terms of freeing me up to do some fun sculpts. Fingers crossed ^_______-
Thanks to everyone that dropped in this week.
Hope you have a great weekend where ever you are.

  • SolidSnakexxx - thank you, glad you think so… trying out some different techniques as of late. Trying to mix it up a bit, if you know what I mean ^______-
  • Nattawat_OBBI - Thanks, I’m glad you think so.
  • SpiritDreamer - Indeed, I don’t know any other way. It’s a philosophy of life for me not just sculpting. ^_____-

  • rabieart - thank you, very kind of you to say so.

All the best.

Hi Cesar I was in your CDR2 workshop…which rocked!! I was wondering if you were going to post your final image for all these zbrushes to drool over?? Talking about that madness wicked Frazetta-esk Fairy!!

nice!

Real awesome work Cesar! Thanks for sharing.

Hi everyone.
Thank you for all the kindness.

Nicko, ha, ha, ha, ah… not sure I still have that.
What most people don’t realize is just how much I don’t post.
I tend to be WAY over critical with myself.
As I get older I’m getting better at letting it go.
But, thank you for the kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed the class.
THAT, makes it all worth it.

As most of you know, I was invited to speak at this month’s UGM.
That was a dream come true for me in so many ways.
I just wanted to extend my sincerest thank you’s to all of the wonderful people at Pixologic and Gnomon.
Thanks for and the hard work and memories.

So here are a few grabs of the gorilla I sculpted and Fiber Meshed for the UGM event.

Cesar, thanks for the awesome session at the UGM. I drove from Arizona to be there and I loved it! I will be putting into practice your concepts of “forward progression”. I may have to start making a monthly trip to LA to attend more of these sessions. I have watched your stuff on the Visualarium site and it was a pleasure to get to watch you work in person.

great model !

Wow captain you drove all the way from Arizona, I’m impressed.
I was impressed and inspired by the UGM as well.
thanks to Pixologic Cesar, Kurt, and Paul for the informative n fun evening.
Love the gorilla he has a very snowflake feel even though he is not white.

Great use of FiberMesh Cesar…You captured that shaggy Mountain Gorilla fur perfectly…Great gorilla sculpt and foundation to work upon also.:+1: Wish I had been able to see you in action live, creating, but alas…root bound here in Boston…
Thanks for finding the time in your sketcbook to share your knowlage gained…Always a great treat for me, and also always something to look forward to…Really appreciated.

Hi, SpiritDreamer.
Thanks so much, my pleasure. I’m thrilled if in some small way I have managed to inform or compart
a morsel of knowledge.

Hi, Monstermaker.
Firstly, thank you again for sitting with me on Thursday evening. You are truly one of the greats.
Snowflake, indeed! I hadn’t thought of that until you pointed it out. Coming from you that is the ultimate
compliment ^________^

Hi, Bernard
Thanks, appreciate that.

Hi, Captain.
Wow, that’s quite the drive. Isn’t the event fantastic!
A room full of incredible talent! So much to learn and inspiration abound.
Thanks for watching my presentations online and taking the time to drop in and saying hello.

UGM’s are truly a gift to any artist, incredible happenings that unite amazing talent under one roof. Thank you so much Pixologic and Gnomon for putting on these great events!

Hi All.
I’m in the middle of a Design-A-Thon called Monster Month.
Throughout all of June, for 30 days.
Each and every single day I am sculpting in Clay a new monster.
Come on by and check it out.
