Hi guys,

Looks like a great start:)
Thanks guys
Here is an update, dont mind the back part of the character, it has just gotten a rough pass.

I really like the upper body…the forms are very nice…
Im not a huge fan of the legs however…maybe try making them more substantial? (thicker) Its just a personal preference because it feels very top heavy with duck size feet. The inside of the back legs look strange to me too…
Great work! post more soon
Good start so far, jimmyLev. I am really digging the sculpt. But I would suggest making the leg a bit bigger and thicker to support the weight of the upper body. Looking forward to your update.
Thanks for the comments guys
Now that you mention it, they do look a little thin, and he shouldnt look frail!
I will try to make them thicker, and see how that works.
On behalf of the back legs, I have to say that they havent recieved a descent sculpt pass yet
Here is an update on the legs, and more of the back of the “horse” body.
I think it worked alot better, making the legs thicker, and I also gave them 10% more in length. I might push the volume more later on thanks for the crit!

Hi Jimmy,
Nice work, it’s some good progress since I have seen this guy last.
I have a couple of little comments.
It seems something slightly odd about the upper arm shapes, there is a big flat surface on the outer part of the arm between shoulder and elbow that looks strange… I found a couple images where you can see that part of the arm on a bodybuilders:

And it looks like his lower torso area has more underskin fat then his shoulder-neck area has…
Great work overall, Jimmy!

hey jimmy!
great start here. i like the back of the human part.
got a few crits for you.
think his collarbone is too dominant. think it could be “smoothed” out a tad closer to the center.
lower abdomen muscles could perhaps be extended further down and intersect a bit more with the horses breast muscles.
the ribcage of the horse is too small, imo. think you could make it drop lower closer to the frontlegs.
since it got toes and claws it think it would help the model if you could incorporate some kind of thumb (the one a bit further up the leg), to help, balancing the leg. maybe something like a dog or lion would be cool…

Hi Sasha And Rasmus thank you for taking the time to comment and crit the model
Sasha:

I guess its the muscle in the middle of the tricep you talking about. I might have made it to flat or to defined, I will look into it thanks

The neck and overall sculpt needs alot of work still, so the fat and skin layers is not even close to being done, hehe, i just have some areas where i couldnt help but to play around with folds of skin. I will get to making that kind of details after i have layed out fur, and his accessories. I will com with an update during this week
Rasmus:
I aggree on the collarbone, it does seems to be way to prenounced, it will get toned down
About the abdominal muscles, I think your right, its kind of a blurred area right now, the transition could be better. Its a good idea to move it more down, and get it to work better with the chest of the horse body. He is going to have a big belt there, but it would be nice to get an anatomy working, just for the exercise, and also to show another pass of the finished character without any accessories.
Hehe, its funny that you mention the thing with a fifth toe, it have been in my mind for so long, and since you bring it up, it might be the right time to try and see how it would work

Hi guys,
I have been making some accessories the last week or so. I have put some dummy objects on him so you have an idea of where im going with it. Missing some leather/string bands around his arms though, and alot of the smaller stuff thats going to be hanging from his belt, and of course more sculpt passes on the body and fur.
Im thinking about keeping his right arm clean of armor, just to have some more contrast, not sure though.
Tell me what you think

Hi Jimmy,
Adding accessories made a big difference, he looks great!
I think the idea of leaving one arm clean of armor is a good idea, but you will have to find a way to balance it with something else, a small design element…
The balance of the body fat looks so much better now.
And I should admit, I love the way you are placing hair and fur, though I know they are dummy objects it still looks great.
That was exactly what I ment (post 12). Arm is looking better now.
Looking forward for the next update
Sasha
Hi Sasha,
thank you for commenting my thread
Thanks Sasha, but there is still a long way to go
Actually, the fur and hair, is going to remain as a piece of geo, atleast for my zbrush turn. I have tried to convert hair from ‘Shave and a haircut’ to add some more complexity, but its way to heavy for my system, and stills take a long time to comb, so I thought I might as well sculpt it, also for the exercise of it.
I have worked more on the belt, its still without detail, but I think it helped to get some more shapes in.
Now I will begin working on his face!
It have been something I have looked forward to do for so long haha, finally i get my hands on it
