Hi Guys,

Here is an update on the teeth. Dont mind the expression and his lips, it was done in a split second, I just wanted to show the teeth
Im thinking of making the lower teeth a bit longer…
Let me know what you think

the body and head are beautiful. It will be part of my reference library if you don’t mind

one thing I must say tho, is that I would really like to see you refine the fur and the beard more… maybe try some 3d hair in max? The current fur doesn’t really match the level of detail on your model’s body and head. :C

but seriously, the model is really good

Hi Jimmy,

Great progress, he is getting better and better, he is going to be a great character to rig

I thought that the guy was vegetarian - horse body and all - but it isn’t the case, is it? The only strange thing for me is his fangs - don’t know what though… Not much of the help, sorry…

Nice work!
Sasha

Hej Piggy,

Hehe, awesome, im very flattered

I can tell you that all of the accessories are not done. So they will get 1 or maybe 2 sculpt passes. The belt itself hasnt gotten any kind of sculpt yet  The lower body is also far from done.

I have tried to use a fur package to help me along with it. So i made some fur in maya with ā€˜shave and a haircut’ and converted it to poly, just to see how it would work. In the end it just looks as wierd as the sculpted fur imo, i could have tried making more fur strains, but it gets way to heavy for my system. So thats not an option anymore. So I have to get the sculpted fur working  Luckily its not done yet, and i have some cool reference, so I know it can get better.

Thanks again

FANTASTIC job on this piece so far :+1: …Really enjoy seeing it progress. …Great snarling expression…:+1:

Very Nice work dude… it remembers me ā€œmongorā€ from the thundercats…
Just go on the amazing work…:+1:

Sasha - Hey! I really hope he will be, im really looking forward to making blendshapes for him, but jeez, thats gonna be a while
hehe, no, he is not a vegi, he is a warrior beast from chaos: http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/tq/18/110790918.jpg

About the teeth, they can change, somewhere down the line I will surely get a thought or a comment that will change my mind about it, who knows.

SpiritDreamer - Great! keep following the thread then :stuck_out_tongue:

Irapas - Thanks  I saw thundcats as a child, or atleast a couple of episodes, must have missed that character, but yes… i do see a resemblance

Good progress. I like the teeth and the fierce expression. Great model and sculpt. A sure reference for me. You deserve my 5 stars Keep it up!

Looks GREAT…Accentuating those muscles has really brought out all of those opposing curves nicely…Has alot more flow and rhythm throughout the piece in the corected version…Those bigger hands are a big improvement also…makes him appear alot stronger…:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Wow…this is a really cool piece… love the creature!

Thanks guys  there is still a long way to go

He is looking really good man!
Only thing that kinda jumps to my eyes, would be how wide his feet seem, however I am not sure weather this is because of the static pose. But besides that, he looks really good, great design and his has got some really sweet details! Can’t wait to see more

Hi Storm,
Thanks for the comment, and you might be right about the feet. Im going to do some tests, and see how they work out at some point

Here is a couple of Updates.
I have been working on the belt, and the fur.
The fur was really time consuming, and its so heavy on my system, so im thinking about just removing it completly, and only leaving the hair. Not sure yet.
But let me know what you guys think

That skinned face is really adding to his character. …Nice touch…:+1:
On the fur, you might want to check out the lions in the paintings and drawings of Rubens…He gets a nice rhythm and flow using big flame like brushstrokes…You might be able to recreate that sort of effect on this character of yours.Using bigger clumps of fur to describe it, instead of little overlapping pieces…would use less memory on your computer maybe.
Just a passing thought that may or may not be useful to you,…but thought it worth mentioning…
Looking forward to seeing where you take this character next…:+1:

hey jimmy!

wow, this is getting good (not that is wasn’t before).
feet looks way better now.
i hope you keep in the fur, even if it’s hard on your system. think it looks great.

Beautiful model! Can Decimation Master help with the fur? Once you’re happy with it, maybe a run through DM might help with the fur polycount?

That pelt is creepy looking. If youre finding the fur a problem you could leave some of it on the outer areas and just use a seperate piece of geometry and sculpt in solid fur. Then blend it into the fur you already have. I would definitely do that for the tail to thicken it up. Seems thin in the side view. Looking good though

excellent progress on the fur and hair! have you try to use decimation master to decrease the overall polycount? one other thing you could try is to build the fur in the old fashion way with a poly plane and texture and just duplicate and stack them… I think this would be a more practical approach if you want your model to be functional

and I don’t think i need to tel you how great the pelt is.

looking forward to see more!
