Caravaggio closeUp

this is from the St.Peter painting by Caravaggio done in 1600, I have done a bunch of these and this is the first one that well looked good. All painted in Zbrush, and still somewhat sketchy but I like the result so I figured to share with you.

Very detailed :grimacing:
Have happy Zbrushing!

Very nice … I’m particularly liking the work on the hair. As you say it’s not finished yet, I’ll hold on to my stars until it is. :+1:

If you think that is the only one that looked good, I would love to see the rest. Great job.

thanks for the replys yo.

Clubitz…no really i meant it the others lack and i will not embarass myself for your pleasure

Moochie…well i’ll finish this painting.and then you can consider releasing a star or two

Frenchy Pilou…i have a happy zbrushing to be sure

An interesting investigation into detailing with ZBrush.
Do I detect a deco brush in the mix?

Just the simple fact that you chose to do a Caravaggio is automatic props! He was always the TRUE master of light. Screw Kinkade!!!:rage: That man has no skill compared to Caravaggio!
Awesome work man. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I love to see painting in Zbrush! The image already has a real strong feeling to it. And with such a great master to copy you must learn a lot. Keep going, and when you’re finished please share some of your workflow and techniques.

:+1:

It’s beautiful…even if it’s not finished…

Yainderidoo

Yainderidoo thanks for the compliment

Plakkie ill be happy to, but its all pretty basic stuff…blocking out then detailing

Firerbert…i think that Kinkade got an MBA not an MFA and even that has failed him
boozy floozie all air brush yo all airbrush

a real gem, keep it up!

Outstanding, can’ wait to see updates. I love the zb paint tools but have a hard time finishing a piece with them, I usually end up in Painter or Photoshop for the finishing process. Have you found it more difficult to produce nice fished looking paintings in ZB, any tips?

woah top row there must be a glitch in the matrix
thanks

Harmonic…first rough the image out at a smaller aspect ratio, then if you are still psyched about working on it. enlarge the canvas and zoom way in and go to town, the rough out will guide you, and just paint piece by piece.
the best part about working strickly z is jumping back and forth to make alphas for hair and skin and then right back into the painting, its really getting fluid for me

Yari Jindou thanks

 wow great job ; i hope one day i do som think like this. how can i put my model so every body can see it en the forum

Fantastic work! I hope to see more people trying this sort of thing, who better to learn from than the great masters, and they don’t come any better than the loony from Carravagio! You can almost feel Saint Pete pondering the idea of upside down crucifixion! Thats gotta hurt!

Great work!

This looks really good!

great work man, and very detailed one.

Looks pretty cool

Hey steventaylor, thanks for your reply. I was hoping to get your feedback on a problem I encounter when painting in Zbrush. Here is an example the problem. This is a piece I am working on, and I blocked in all the colors and main forms just fine, but when I lower my opacity to start refining and blending and get more color gradations I get weird results. In the second pic below I picked a very dark grey almost black color but when I paint it on I get reds and yellows, it seems that when colors overlap they get lighter instead of darker:question: This has been a frustrating problem for me as I do a lot of very low opacity painting. Have you experienced this:question: Any advice or feedback would be appreciated.
