shader breakdown please !!!
The most impressive is not the displacement map, but the texture work you’ve done in Mari in order to get that beautiful alpha ! Could you show us how have you done this !?
amazing work

Wonderful as always dude
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Here is a new character to kick of the year. I was inspired by the new Star Wars VII movie and wanted to create my own Rendition of Snoke.
Hope you like it.
Everything made in zbrush. Started from a sphere, dynamesh, zremesh and then detailed. Rendered in maya with Arnold.
Now with eyes…
He looks really good. I love the skin details. The skin looks a bit dry for my taste I think…
Holymoly, beautiful!
cheers,
Dmitrij (from facebook ehe)
Looks like the eyes breathed life into it. The latest Arnold render looks great.
Really amazing! Do you have a specific process on getting the eyes to be so realistic. This is always something that I struggle with. When they are done right, like you do, they bring the character to life. Any tips or breakdowns would be appreciated!
Beautiful. Looks better than what was in the film. Amazing detailing and realism.
Wow! Top row! Thank you Pixologic.
vlad74: Thanks man. I agree he is to dry. I don’t have any spec or gloss maps on him. Its just the displacement and diffuse test right now.
cherub_rock: Hey dude! Thanks for the support. Your sculpts are fantastic man.
BlobStroke: Thanks man. Windows to the soul, or in this case, darkness. hehe.
Captain Cartesian: This is always a question I get asked. Its a very difficult subject to translate, for me anyway. The thing with the eyes, I find, and this will sound very artsy fartsy.
When I sculpt these characters and creatures for personal work I try to grab hold of an emotion. I try to translate that very subtly into my sculpt. I have also made my own eyeball model and shader that I use and serves me well.
Its all Arnold related though. Arnold has really good skin shader and features to blend between eyelid and eyeball. Hmmm, not sure this reply helps :-/.
dopepope: Hehe, Thank you, though Im sure they will reveal more of Snoke in the future. What we saw was very dark and mysterious.
Thanks again everyone!
absolutely more convincing than the original, so beautiful and realistic.
great work man, I also prefer this one on the original
congrats on the top row well deserved

Very good work indeed!
Because I like this here a lot I also had a look at your previous threads, and I want to thank you for that BPlat material that your shared in the Michael Turner’s Fathom thread. I downloaded it and tried it out and it went immediately in my favourites.
So dope!
Dopeness overload ! Congrats Brett !!!
