Hi all. First time posting here. I have been putting my work together for last little bit and decided to post some of it here. All renderes were done with Maya using mostly decimated meshes made in Zbrush. Hope you all enjoy.

Comments and crits are welcome!

This is my attempt at a design of Gambit. Some elements were pulled from an image I found on the net, I believe the design was by Bayang Hitam? Anyway, everything that I designed was done in Zbrush with a very simple base mesh. Some elements were resurfaced for the final image.

This is Lucia Von Bardas I did awhile back working on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Some small elements were modified and of course the pose was added later. The charcater was based on concepts provided by Eric Deschamps.

This is a character I did for an art test awhile back. I call her Sierra even though she didn’t have a name with the concept. For some reason or another I’ve been reminiscing about the old Half Life game I played to death and for some reason the publisher keeps popping in my brain. I was provided a rough concept and told to make it work.

Hell yeah! Really nice work man. :+1:

So great work dude!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

looking really sharp, the renders look like prototypes.

This is great work, inspires me to make another coffe and keep going XD

Nice dude! About time you posted something up!

great work, i liked

There is something really “spot-on” about his pose, I looked at it and was instantly impressed. Well done man, they are all fantastic sculpts.

Love the Gambit, he kind of reminds me of David Wenham.

wow, this is amazing.:+1:

Wow, just wow. Very clean and solid models, 5*. Renders and poses are looking sweet too. Makes me want to buy some new comics. J

Wow amazing sculpts. Stunning renders and the poses you give your characters are excellent too.

Thanks for all the awesome comments! I greatly appreciate the comments about the poses. Gambit took a while to get there for sure, thankfully I have a lot of animator friends that tell me when I’m dead wrong :D. As for the renders, again thanks! I stumbled across a thread here on ZBC a long time ago that I used to achieve the effect. Ryan Kingslien also has a gnomon dvd that also helps you achieve the same look. I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard it really freaking good.

Here’s one of two generalized tutorials on my process for these images. The first is how I approached the concept sculpt. The second, I will quickly breakdown the rendering process. If anyone wants a more breakdown or have questions about a specific aspect I’ll try to elaborate.

Here’s the first part…

Part-1.jpg

Part 2 needs a little more explanation. I found the post here entitled “make it look real”. An awesome tutorial! Props to ISK-86 for this!

The easiest thing I’ve found is to do it once. Get it right and then save out our shot. Import new models and match the scale and placement of the old one. Then start testing from step 6 explained below.

Part-2.jpg

This one is a tough one to explain without making a website dedicated to all the shaders and settings involved. If anyone has questions I’ll be happy to try to help. Meanwhile here are some links…
