Awesome - Top Row sculpts imho! Thanks for posting & sharing the tuts
This is some really excellent work and renders. On the Lucia Von Bardas piece, was that made into a low res game model? If so do you know how the maps were handled for her cyborg rib and interior areas?
Thanks for the behind the scenes on Gambit. I always appreciate the behind the scenes from artists.
Thanks for all the great comments!!!
I’ll post some Zbrush captures soon.
Urchinator: LOL, it wasn’t my intention, but he kinda does look like David Wenham!
ZakkM : He wasn’t used for production. He was a redesign of a character that my art lead at the time wanted me to do some promotional work for our department. We got to pick anything in the Activison family ans since I’ve always loved Gambit ever since I was a child and at the time Activison had licensing with Marvel… I chose to do him. The design was all me though I got inspired from some different works of him, like mentioned in the first post. I’ll post my references.
Crouse: Thanks for that! I was kinda worried it wasn’t enough info.
celsofx : Dude! Thanks! I’m a big fan! I absolutely love your Spiderman and your comment on your blog about a teenager designing a suit made of something no one has heard of, LOL totally nailed it!
Etcher: I’m a huge fan! Thanks for the comment!
Arthaven: This started as a sculpt for one of the characters in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 that my department helped with. We didn’t do the low res characters for the game. I have seen the low res textured however and the ribs were modeled and the insides were capped off and painted black. When I posed her I rebuilt some pieces I wasn’t a big fan of and that area specifically I filled in with wires and cables. I did the same with the inside of right leg, though not too terrible evident in the renders.
In Zbrush.

Wow excellent job on Gambit! He looks great! I think the shoes need a little
more work on them though, they look a little bit like slippers. You could shape
the tip of his boots to be like a steel cap and add zips on the inner side where
you have those edges of geo coming together.
how on earth did i miss this! thanks for the toot and I hope I’ll see a new sculpt soon from you
I’m not sure how I missed this either. I found this on Pinterest. Just wanted to say…amazing work!
This is very informative. Thanks for sharing!
