Boolean action on a finished non-Dynamesh tool?

I’ve looked through the threads to see if this has already been covered, but didn’t find what I was looking for. So, I apologize if this has already been covered.

Is there a way to boolean pieces of a finished sculpt that is not Dynamesh? IE: Like an action figure. The sculpt is complete and the head is separate from the body, but I would like to use the neck ball on the body to boolean the space into the head so they will fit together after being printed. I’ve reviewed a lot of the “Insert Mesh” stuff but that seems to only be for earlier on in the sculpt and used with Dynamesh. Am I mistaken?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes, you are mistaken. You don’t have to use Dynamesh with InsertMesh to boolean your mesh. You can use Half inserts (open ended) to achieve the same results but without the loss of detail that is associated with Dynamesh. I would suggest you go to ZClassroom and watch the Insert Mesh tutorials Insert Mesh Replacement Creature Part 3 of 4 and Insert Mesh Replacement Creature Part 4 of 4.

Thank you! I will go watch this link right now. I had not found that one. Great! Thanks again. I’ll post further questions if I have em.

Also take a look at this post. Some Dynamesh but you may be able to work around it. He also shows how to maintain detail while using Dynamesh.
