Beginning Works

I like that last lightng and polypainting test…GREAT ATMOSPHERE…:+1:

Thanks! I still have yet to learn all of the neat little tricks of Photoshop rendering and all that jazz, but that last one is definitely the overall look that I want to eventually capture… The patchiness of the lighting gives a lot more mystery to the monster.

Haven’t done much ZBrushing in quite a while. Here’s a shot of the “belly-arms” in an extended reach pose. These will be easier to transpose later on.

I love the design of this
looks very menacing!

Very nice!
Maybe with the new ZBrush 4 coming, you’ll make it animated!!!

Thanks! That would be super cool! I don’t even have 3.5 yet… When is 3.5 supposed to be coming out for Mac?

Hey, yall! I feel satisfied with my progress on the Cloverfield monster. I still have a lot to learn as far as UV mapping and all that juicy stuff goes, but as far as sculpting goes, I think I’m ready to move on…

Here’s something I just started. A very early WIP. I imagine it roaming a dark stairway, using its arms to climb the railings… The design was highly inspired by the deformed creatures of Silent Hill. Critiques and comments, as always, greatly welcomed!

looks like you’re starting to generate some ideas, keep working on it.

I’ve never done any [human] anatomy studies before (least not any extensive ones), but I feel pretty pleased with this one so far. Retopology will be done very soon. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I’m not super good at anatomy either but I see a lotta people get critiqued because of their backs and shoulders.

Indeed, this guy’s back was especially tricky… I checked out some pictures on google as quick references, but mainly just went with the flow and slowly built up what seemed to look right.

a little recommendation for topology, i think it would be better to pose it in a rigging “T” pose and then with transposer make the character the way you like.

that way you wont have ticky problems like the one before

Also kickass monters, love them

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll keep that in mind with future projects.

Planning out the new topology for this guy. I’ve learned some pretty cool tricks through trial and error. Still got a ways to go.
