Quick highlights and comp in PS, then lots of mock-up paint-over in the background

Was wondering, before I start pushing it any further, whether paintings/paint-overs are even allowed … would of course submit all the polypainted 3D models of the demon and the incubus… otherwise, I’ll I’ll attempt to model and/or polypaint all the little details into the models

Bit more progress…got my monster in now, and approaching something like a final composition (hence the strange angled crop as I figure the camera out).
The field of heads is $#!t but wanted to get a quick feel for the demon tiptoeing through them…

Critique, thoughts or advice welcome
And of course, good luck everyone

I finally finish my creature , i have to say that i learned a lot during this challenge, specially i would like to thanks my friend Javier Mendez Lafon (Javistravis), who show me some tips and guided me in the color/texture process.

Hope you like it!
Any comments and suggestions will be always welcome, good luck everyone.

Well, reading the rules again, seems like it might be polypaint only, so wil do the painting afterwards.
Here’s my demon with the detailing nearly finished; just have to groom the beard fibres and then detail the fronds on his back…
then polypainting of both models… hope I make it in time because it’s the only way I’ll ever be able to afford to do a ZBW course

Seems a little quiet here even what a great competition this is…wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a bunch more amazing last minute entries

Absolutely mate! Polypaintings/ texturing/ paintovers are all allowed

Yes! Apparently I can comp the sculpts together and do some paint-over work in post… pleased about that because it’s quicker/easier to get some dramatic effects
That said, I’ve really been enjoying sculpting and it would be fun to add the tiny details like spittle, etc as mesh

Anyways, sculpt detailing finished… might go micro-detailing if time allows

too tired to get inspired with the body colours… but I’m posting a quick test so I’ll be embarrassed into doing something better tomorrow

Perfect Effects 4 for the grunge/frame

Ive been sculpting for about a year now, realized I like the scary and nightmare essc creatures. Let me know what you think!

 Happy Zbrushing

QUESTION - Is this too much paint-over?

Dropped the magical face paint for now as it was a little distracting, but may try to get it to work again this evening
As I started the colouring, got to a point where I thought I’d just push it to a kind-of-final image to see what it would look like and to see if this much paint-over/illustration is allowed, when after all it’s a 3D competition

But all that said, I kind of like where it’s at in this one, and if it is ‘legal’ I might submit it and then do something quick and more spontaneous as an extra submission

Critique requested, all thoughts and advice welcome

Hi this is my character for this challenge

Wanted to submit something, don’t know if I’ll be able to finish on time, though. I used a lot of the Monster brushes for this one, horns, hands, torso, head, it’s been quite fun to work on it!

BPR_Render.jpg

****in’ badass… that is all

Thanks very much… glad you like it

Today it feels to me like there’s still some things to fix, so will do a higher res render tonight with right arm better posed for this angle, and the eyes adjusted a little… also didn’t notice that the top horns subtool appears to have moved slightly off center and he’s missing some barbs on the top of his thighs… I’d put in the silhouetted ball-sack too, but they did say no rude stuff

Love that face!

Hi everyone! This is my last work for the monster brush challenge by BadKing  Hope you like it ^^

More detailing, still working on it.

Got no reply on whether the paint-over was too much of a liberty on the brief, so took the colours and
retro-fitted them to the model

Polypaint is good enough for what will be the final image, but will micro detail the sculpt and polypaint at a later date if I can convince someone
to put it in a magazine or art book.

This weekend I’ll work up a quad shader and lightcap and see how close to the final image I can get it before even touching it with any post
