They won’t?
I already have zbrushcore. I’m going to sell the software if I buy the bundle and keep the box and tabelt.
Those of you who use ZBCore, do you use your ZBCore models in other apps and if so how do you retopo them without a retopology function in ZBCore?

Usually. But sometimes I use it as high poly mesh converted to vray proxy.
What do you use to retopo your ZBCore sculpts?
And I presently own and use 3DCoat 4.7. What does ZBCore have that would compliment 3DC?
There is no demo or trial of ZBCore, so I have no way of knowing. I did download the trial of the full ZB but I have no way of knowing what is included in ZBCore unless I constantly refer to a chart. Not interested in a full trial of ZB so I uninstalled it.
Zbcore is more for 3dprinting and learning zbrush basic sculpting. You will find it less useful if you already have 3dcoat or the full zbrush app.
P.S.
How come reply with quote does not work on this forum?
Hey everyone
does zbrush core has the options to record time lapse like the main zbrush?
There is no Movie palette.
Because it was removed, possibly due to being a fundamentally useful feature.
They got rid of it just after they made it a serious chore to upload images.
The worst part is they did this AFTER implementing multi quote (a brilliant tool), where you could select more than one person and then answer many questions at once, it WAS fantastic (and standard in the software they are using to power this forum).
Personally I would like a LOT of people to bitch out the webbastards for this, they need to realize that removing usefull stuff is not just a bad idea, its damaging the usefulness of the site.
I enjoy the program alot, now i’m saving for the full version. I would like to share my first work here. It was harder then it seems but as i said a lot of fun

@Kenmo: Now a long replay,
What do you use to retopo your ZBCore sculpts?
- usually I use instant meshes in with conjunction with mesh lab. If I have enough time then I retopo the model by hand in blender/3ds max. Xnormal is a must. Btw zbrush core has dynamesh but it’s locked to 100000 polyes as export, althogu it can be good for using in other software for retopo, and 3d printing. It i bad for anything else (not much details preserved at least for me).
And I presently own and use 3DCoat 4.7. What does ZBCore have that would compliment 3DC? - natural feel of the brushes! It’s the sole thing why I bought it. For me 3DCoat’s brushes are very stiff so to speak. And I cannot make them feel more natural like they are in zbrush even blenders brushes feel more natural than 3DCoat’s.
Someone asked is how do you use noises in ZCore, same as in zbrush, but you will have to bake them into the mesh if you want to export them anywhere.
Hello,
I am considering a purchase of Z Brush Core, and also to take some of the classes offered by Tomas Wittlesbach on jewelry design. Would anyone know if Z Brush Core has all of the functionality necessary for using his methods of production? I don’t want to sign up for an expensive course with the wrong software! Thanks for any help you can offer.
Catherine
Good luck in getting a reply on that. I’m still in the grey and without a demo of ZBCore I guess I’ll never find out…
Not sure why there is no demo.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: If you’re aiming to be at a level where you’re doing intricate jewelry design with ZBrushCore, you’re hoping to do surgery with a butterknife. I’ve taken Tomas’ excellent course and he gets into the intricacies of how some of his custom sculpting brushes work versus others. While his curated set of brushes are supplied to students, they’ll only install in full ZBrush. ZBrushCore’s spec page already indicates the initial brushes are set and don’t appear expandable anytime in the future.
I should also point out that despite the Jewelry Design course’s description, it’s best suited for those who already have some working knowledge of ZBrush. Since you’re asking about ZBrushCore, it’s safe to presume you’re starting from square one. The message of what he’s trying to teach you will be blunted if you’re concurrently fumbling with a new tool AND with only a partial deck. Immediately prior to Tomas’ Jewelry Design course, I’ve gone through various tutorials across the web in an attempt to get up to speed with the ins & outs of ZBrush: Pixologic’s tutorials, YouTube’s mixed bag, Lynda.com’s ZBrush Essentials training – none of them really worked for me. Ryan Kingslien’s ZBrush Certificate course was the motherlode because he elaborated on pretty much everything the other courses glossed over. Things were taught at a micro and macro level so it was easier to grasp how things tied-in with each other. If his Certificate course becomes available again, I’d recommend it to those who are convinced ZBrush needs to be in their future and want to take effective measures of getting there. Michael Pavlovich’s 3-part course makes a great additional reference supplement.
From the start, ZBrushCore has described itself honestly: The bare essential CORE parts of ZBrush for the hobbyist-intermediate types wishing to sculpt something (general) for 3D printing. Knowing what I now know through full ZBrush 4R7, did they over-trim ZBrushCore by crippling its ZRemesher, Dynamesh and AlphaGrabdoc? Probably. For the uninitiated, what they left in still beats a lot of other sculpting packages at this price point and sets a no-brainer experience path should they decide to graduate to ZBrush prime.
ZBrushCore would be like sitting at your jewelry workbench and finding your graver tool, round-nose pliers and 60% of your favorite rotary tool bits permanently missing. Can you still do the things planned in the time allowed? As a jeweler, you should be able to answer that honestly for yourself.
- What exactly does ‘Max. number of polygons per mesh 20 Million’ mean? The total of everything in my sculpt, regardless the number of subtools? Or do they mean ‘mesh’ as in single tool? For example, if I have a skull, with subtools for eyes, would it be 20 for the entire thing, or 20 for each?
It’s per SubTool
-
Can someone link me to images of sculpts that are slightly below 20 million? It would be nice to see how big and how intricate I can go with Core, before hitting that wall.
-
Does .obj preserve the subtools and/or polygroups? I’m thinking of doing some organic in Core, export it as .obj, import the .obj in Fusion 360, add some hard-surface to it, and then, assign materials in the render setup of F360, in there I can choose to assign to bodies (objects) or faces, so if I can preserve either the subtool and/or the polygroups, I can assign my materials that way.
Yes, OBJ preserves these. PolyGroups remain intact when exported and imported. SubTools export separately. Of course you can merge SubTools, in which case they’ll be separate polygroups and so will remain discreet upon OBJ export.
Thanks.
CarterTG- I want to thank you for the excellent, informative reply. Yes I would be starting from novice with Z Brush and I will take your advice to get up to speed before attempting Tomas’ classes. Thanks again.
Strength10attack - Autodesks flagship products are free to students - so it shouldn’t be a barrier to you.

It’s per SubTool
So just to be sure, I can have a Ztool, with let’s say 5 Subtools, and each Subtool can have 20Mi poly’s?
This made me smile and curious at the same time, because in a way, it’s not really a limitation at all (unless one doesn’t like a lot of subtools).
@Monsterizer Realistically you cant sculpt on 20 mil poligon subtool, it’s just pure insanity, you have to use sculpt HD for that (full zbrush feature) and I haven’t found any machine that can support 20+ mil polygons per subtool and not be sluggish at some instance.
And yah you can have 100+ mil sculpts in zcore just not in one subtool.
how much is an upgrade from zbrushcore to zbrush full?

I have the same question but the link gives not an answer.
Its regular price minus 100$
