***Announcing ZBrush 4 for Windows And MacOSX

Hey, they arent responding… lol

OMG YES!! i can’t wait!

crosses his fingers for paint layers

I agree. It is really good news to finally get some word on a mac update after waiting so long without a word. Even though, the “Dark Ages” seem to be at an end, I’m not quite ready to wee in my pants and start shouting Pixo’s praises from the rooftops. At least, not until I actually see Z4 installed on my computer, and it kicks some serious butt. Then, maybe just a little wee.

Give us a bone here! Can’t say a release is coming and not reveal anything about it
Paint layers? oh god… I hope it will have paint layers. So exited!!

What is this “paint layers” that I keep hearing about? It sounds cool. Does this mean versions of polypainting assigned to different layers?

Great news! All the wait for 3.5 for mac makes sense now… I guess we’ll be seeing equal release dates for both platforms for now on. Ahhhh, these are very good news indeed.

Nice. That would be handy!

Come on, you weed a little already, you know you did. We all weed.

Wee, wee, wee.

lol

Yes, exactly. Layers within PolyPainting, ala Photoshop. Preferably with compositing similar to Photoshop layers as well. So that when you’re done painting and go to assign it to the texture, it “flattens” the layers into one bitmap. Done.

i weed… i weed a lot…possibly the onset of incontinence, but definitely partly to do with the announcement.
Oh happy days, well at least until the wee cools, and then it’s 4 agonising weeks of waiting and sitting in a cold puddle of my own urine!

Hardly even a drop! Barely counts. So, there!

We should all go play with our Wii and quit talking about Wee. Oui?

all true, except that Zmapper had a lot of tools that are now missing in Z.

Mixing Bump maps+ disp to generate a normal map.
How about inflating/ shrinking a model at baking time, or sharpening the normal map result.

“What is this “paint layers” that I keep hearing about? It sounds cool. Does this mean versions of polypainting assigned to different layers?”

Yes exactly. It would be nice to be able to create and manipulate individual “paint layers” just like sculpt layers. originally i was attracted to Mudbox because of this. After playing around with both, however, i realized Poly Painting is ten times better than Texture painting (not that Texture painting isn’t useful), and paint layers or not, Zbrush > Mudbox. Though my second most requested feature (after paint layers), would be an accurate lighting model with the ability to paint specular, gloss, alpha and glow maps without leaving Zbrush snaps out of daydream.

Also pixo, i love you, but for god sakes will you fix the camera controls? Every ten minutes the view is popping out of place for some reason or the QuickMenu pops up cause i “clicked” the right mouse instead of dragging it (easy to do with a pen), then i end up randomly adjusting my brush size or something and have to pause and re-adjust it… i’m just saying, some camera interface controls would be very welcome. Like if i could turn off “dragging the canvas to rotate” so i could start brush strokes outside the model’s surface.

not that i’m complaining, i can’t believe Z4 will be a free update. Y’all rock.

You need to go to preferences, interface, and change the click time to something lower than 0.25.

change it to something like 0.2 should be fine then.

This.

second this, as an option?

Also PLEASE may the upgrade install go smoother than the R1,2,3 process.

Thanks Pixo! Love you bunches and bunches

ZBrush and modo playing together on Windows… YES!

looking forward to this. Depending on what this release brings to the table ( more intuitive retopology tools and perhaps voxel based sculpting ) some people like me will decide whether they must join the 3d industry as professionals or stay put in less interesting industries such as advertising and graphic design.
