Is this a statement that Pixologic has made at Siggraph? If so I am severely dissapointed. Didn’t Pixologic even say that Siggraph would bring news about the new update?

its not from siggraph… i got it like 2 weeks ago…
It’s looks like a “Siggraph-Error”

Here you can see when Pixologic present the new Features.
Maybe the Update will be able after the demonstration.
Then it’s tomorrow.
Tease…tease,tease,tease…tease…tease…
Now, where is that pill bottle…
Nothing on Pixologics page has changed. It will be within the next three to four days before they post any announcements I believe.
I hope.
Are we there yet?
At the show they were saying that 2.5 would be about “a month or two” away. I was really hoping for a Siggraph release. Oh well.
The good news, for me anyway, is there’s a plugin coming sooner than that that will make normal map creation alot easier. Looks like they fixed the problems with tangent space normal maps, and there’s a significant speed increase. It also incorporates bump maps into the normal map (YEAH!!!)
It also let you view the normal map on your model as it would look in your game engine, something until recently I would have to do in 3dsmax with a DX9 texture. They said that’s about a week or two away.
Also coming is a plugin linking Projection Master to Photoshop.
It seemed to let you export your dropped down PM image to Photoshop, manipulate it, then send it back to PM where you could then pick-up your model again.
I hope I don’t ruffle any feathers by posting this, but I figured if it was said in the demo then it’s free game to talk about.
Also, big ups to Meats Miers for signing posters for a good 30-40 minutes after his demo. His hand must be freakin tired.

awesome but …we all know what we want

Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but I didn’t get that. The closest thing to a hint I was able to pry out of anyone is that they’ll be announcing the release date this month.
Again, they didn’t say that the release date would be this month. Merely the release date FOR the release date. And even that much is vague – we don’t have a firm announcement for when the announcement will be.
Also worth noting:
The icon on Pix’s desktop does indeed say 2.5, and not 3.0 – look for some bold improvements in the area of modeling, but don’t expect to export animation-ready skinned-and-rigged characters until the ZScript community gets ahold of 2.5 and outdoes themselves in a big way. Likewise, we’re probably still editing one texture map (diffuse, bump, specularity, etc) at a time for a while, and won’t be converting ZBrush’s built-in materials to a series of maps anytime soon.
BUT…
What -is- there looks mighty intuitive, incredibly powerful, and costs us nothing to upgrade. So, I for one don’t plan to put up with a whole lot of complaining.
come on 2.5!!!
Just a question regarding the plug ins that were mentioned earlier in this thread. Can anyone give me an idea of where I can get more information about these plug ins? I would like to know a little more about what they can do and what they will cost.
Thanks
It sounds cool to be able to paint your maps in photoshop but i wonder if the plugin can be set to use corel’s painter as well.
Not everyone likes to paint in photoshop
I’m pretty sure it could happen…
One of the guys here could script something I’ve no doubt about it, we’ll just have to wait a little longer…
You can use just about any paint program like that right now. Just drop your model in PM. Export out the document. Open up the document in Painter, Photoshop, MS Paint, etc… Do your magic. Go back to Zbrush. Import your document. Then pick up your canvas in PM.
But the new update looks like it might be more streamlined.
Can’t wait to see these new features in action. I think the normal map stuff is going to be the best feature for a lot of companies.
ZAppLink (the plugin that allows you to send your canvas to an image editor and then bring it back to continue in ZBrush) works with whatever program you have associated with PSD files. So if you prefer to use Painter, then it will send the canvas to there instead of Photoshop.
It makes it SO easy to use ZBrush for all the great things that ZBrush is best at and still have ready access to whatever text generators or special filters you have in your other software. And the work that you did in your external app is seamlessly applied back onto the ZBrush canvas just as if you’d painted it there instead.
We’ll be posting a more about this tool, ZMapper and 2.5 in the near future. Just let us get back from SIGGRAPH so that we can do the info justice.
chadtheartist, its a very interestng tips, but I donly succed to make it work in texturing mode, I there actually a way to do modifications on a canevas in photshop (like simulation sculpting with emboss layer) then drop it on zbrush to sculpt the object???
I don’t think it will work with Zdepth. Not with the way I said, nor with the plugin. Or at least it won’t be a controlled Zbrush zdepth. You could probably do some funky things to get some sculpting stuff going, but I don’t think that would work as well as sculpting directly in PM.
Aurick so the ZSphere is all fixed and better?
I downloaded the preview video and noticed some improvement but I am not sure about the skinning system it still look somewhat unreliable. How did they put new polygons on zspheres? click? I am sorry if it was all explained in audio but I am deaf and may have missed something.
