•••A Sneak-Preview of the next ZBrush-Update•••

More information about the next update will be posted periodically
here at ZBrushCentral and ZBrush.com.
Stay tuned!

I’ve been watching this thread for ohh… “8 months” since it was posted, and I have yet to agree that my interpretation of periodically is anything close to theirs. I mean come on; 8 months? Not one more word about it. How freaking periodical is that? Maybe some more movies of that character pixolator posted in development, or some work done using a beta, or anything would suffice.

The reason I have not said a word about this is because I was pretty vocal about the ZB2 Mac release taking like a year after the release of the PC version when they said it would only be a couple of months. But, after 8 months of quiet on this subject I decided it was time I posted something about my disappointment of these so called periodicals in this thread at least once.

Maybe they’ll give a tease at SIG, but I said that about the Mac version too, and It was still like another 6 months or more after that before we had any news. :o

All I can say is try to remain optimistic folks. :+1: Something will happen eventually.

I agree on the wait and “periodically” shouldn’t be 8 months, but from what I understand, the update will be released during or just after Siggraph '05. That’s kinda been in my head since they posted this thread. Not sure though if it will be a completely new app ZB3 or just an update ZB2.5. Either way it will be cool. Until then, I still haven’t learned a fraction of what some peops know and will always be busy learning. It’s my lot in life.

but from what I understand, the update will be released during or just after Siggraph '05.

I’m not angry. If I was I would have made that clear. I’m not sure what gave you that Idea. I’m just displeased, but used to the fact that they post these things, and don’t really come back, and live up to it.

But I am curious where you heard they are going to be releasing this during, or just after SIG? Is that just accumulated speculation, or did they actually say that to anyone, or anywhere?

It’s more speculation I think, I mean like you’ve said, we’ve heard nothing for ages…

Lets hope the delay means they’re releasing PC & Mac simultaneously…

I have to admit though, the lack of any news whatsoever is very poor, these guys have a very strong & loyal set of users & I feel that leaving us dangling like this, is not what loyal users deserve…

Could Siggraph 05 be the turning point.

I am sure pixologic team are doing their best. We need to be more patient. I am 100% sure our patience will be paid off.

Will be FINALLY zbrush able to play mp3?

and to browse internet?

could include a zscipt for horoscope and weather report…

why you guys at pixologic don’t include this ESSENTIAL features?

a guy from sanitarium…

ZBrush can do this already. Click>ZPlugin>Web Access.

Also, I shall shortly be releasing a plugin for Pizza delivery to your desktop as well as the long-awaited Model-It! button that, using the recent discovery that brainwaves can be transferred to the ZB interface using ordinary headphones, will model whatever you’re thinking (while you’re eating the pizza).

That requires a V-Chip interface…

Lemmo

don’t pizza’s brainwaive will interfere with model-it button?

and what about a button for create a button?

the long-awaited Model-It! button that, using the recent discovery that brainwaves can be transferred to the ZB interface using ordinary headphones
I tried your beta version Marcus and I must say I am dissapointed. All I could model with your plugin was two curvaceous mounds. Clearly it needs some work as I was not thinking of…hang on…

…oh my :o. It does work.

The Siggraph exhibition is just 11 days away. Hang in there, I am sure there will be more information available very soon.

Since Pixologic seems to be moving more and more towards professional level integration I would say that most likely this past year all the high end professionals have been beta testing the new version. I have no doubt they will probably come out of the closet and spew forth all their secretly learned ZB 2.5 tricks and such once the cap has been popped. Or again, maybe they won’t.

I just upgraded my laptop to Tiger (OS 10.4.2, or OS 14 for us old-timers), and discovered this new thingy called Dictionary. I tried it out and, sure enough, the word “Periodically” definitely implies “more than once” in its meaning.

I must say that I am a little dismayed at Pixologics silence.

It was actually the demo videos of the next update that convinced me to finally buy zbrush. On the other hand I have not had the chance to use Zbrush too much since the purchase and for the time I have spent with it I have been rather pleased. So although I do not feel cheated in any way (after all I paid for 2.0 not 2.5whatever)

However I do feel that from a customer service standpoint Pixologic could forumulate a better policy than ‘if there is nothing to say then we will do exactly that.’ There are ways for companies to let their customers know on a regular basis that things are moving along behind the scenes and making them feel like they are not being ignored whilst revealing very little. The fact that Pixologic has kind of dropped the ball in this regard is rather mystifying considering the outstanding customer service they seem to give in every other regard.

On a more personal level I just hope that the mac version of the update is released at the same time as the PC version, otherwise I will have to sell a major appliance to purchase a cross-grade license…

Cheers
Xarf

Even though some of the current features are still over my head at the moment, I’m extremely excited about the next update. I’m not worried that it won’t materialize. I quite expect if not the actual update, then concrete news about the update will be revealed at Siggraph. The time frame between the announcements made and a public platform like Siggraph doesn’t seem unreasonable. Whenever the update is available, I will certainly be working to bridge my ZBrush skills from where they are now to where they will be worthy of the happily received update. There are plenty of worthwhile lateral and parallel things to be learned about the current version before the update arrives. Still, I can hardly wait.

Regards,
Bill C.

not every one can make it to Siggraph. This forum is where updates should be posted. Periodically.:stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, Show’s over in 2 days. Still no news?

Don’t do that, I thought this was it…

Man this is like the longest christmas eve ever…

I think they are exprimenting seriously on ZSphere project. I played with current version of ZSphere and I can see that it have some complex problems to resolve with metaball and rig system for skinning and joints. We need to be more patient so we can get better one than the buggy one.

a few weeks back i emailed them and asked for a release data,
they told me this forum will be the first one to know about it.

so…

Oh, not Siggraph be the first ?
We are the first.

Sounds like Siggraph is not very important for this update.
Other wise we hear about it now.
