A little challenge...

Hahaha, got the inspiration sitting on the beach and looking at the girls?
Nice soft render, keep going Jason!

Darn Bas, you know my subconscious rather well. I have no intention of sleeping from this point forward.

I’ve tried that. It never works.

Some updating and step throughs. Showing levels 1, 2, 4, 6.

This guy is a rough concept for a character that is Evil, very Evil! The idea I had to show this was that he was perfect outside, especially from a distance. However his very core is corrupt with Evil (hahahaha - sorry) and he is slowly succumbing. So his eyes, ears, mooth will show the disease and it will worsen as it moves into his inner being. Think the Evil Wizard in the old Sinbad movies, everytime he drew on the powers of darkness, he aged and became that much more corrupt.

Like most of my stuff here, various parts are for a character and these are my test canvases.

I tried to make a head out of zspheres that could animate/change shape like you guys have been doing throughout this thread, and found I got sidetracked at the lips/mouth. Basically I wanted to make lips that were movable and able to make expressions. Well here are the results:

Default zsphere lip setup:

As you can see im not a expert at this, but looking at whats been done here I assume one of you guys would have a good lip soultion or idea.

Welcome. Nice work.

You are encountering polys taking up the same space. Too crowded.

You have to generate something with this area larger, then after storing the morph scale down.

It’s all doable, just requires some thinking, and trial 'n error.

Atwooki may post a gecko here that we solved a moving eyelid issue for, we’ll see. It is also a cross platform compliant ZTL.

I’ll try to whip up an example to help you out today or tomorrow.

A little ‘twist’ on the zif building theme here: (after tearing my hair out on the set-up here!),
Jason resolved an interesting problem - that of incorporating ‘rotating eyelids’; in this case on a gecko character (ZTL provided)

Yeah, with a little low level work you get something like this to work with as a base…

Eye can be rotated, pivoted, eyelids the same. Interesting possibilities.

Excellent. Using the model you submitted to me as a reference I was able to see a differn’t way to tackle the problem. Ive uncramped my zspheres and cleared the links to make those magnet acting things:

Thanks for the help!

Glad we could help. Nice looking expressions. Post more as you progress.

Well as many of you have seen, bulls, steer, what-have-you have been popular as of late around here. Lo-and-behold I was asked to solve an issue. So I thought I’d post it here. No XYZscript at all, tongue and mouth functional. Eyes are part of the zsphere structure, but independent of the mesh, thus they can rotate in the socket for fun. Mad COW!! This really isn’t a cow, it’s an amalgamation of cow, moose, water buffalo, bisson and a few other critters I was looking at as I thought of how this could be so much more than just ‘a model’ as in singular.

Enjoy, feel free to query as needed.

Sorry it’s been so long, that big business stuff keeps getting in the way. The nerve of some people.

Good man

I can imagine this guy on the wall and complaining about the color match of your house

Moving eyes… that’s cool Jason :+1:

Hey guys, glad your still with us.

elarcano, we would put him in the stuffed animal room that my wife keeps (just in case). He’d be right at home with the other stuffed critters!

Is there any zscripts of modeling the zspheres in this thread? Whenever I try to model with them, the first zsphere seems to be a hemisphere rather than a whole sphere. Also has 5 fingers been covered?

Hey Womball,

I might be wrong, but in order to see it as a full sphere you need at least 2 new spheres that come out of the first one -usually in opposite positions-. As you can see in Jason’s mutant/moose the is only 1 zsphere chain coming out of it… wait a minute… -Jason- the back part of the templant has no second chain sphere to it, but it’s closed… how did you manage that? -I reeeeeeally need to go to post #1:rolleyes:-

PS.
Since he has the rotating eyes, he’s gonna be the paranoid templant of that group

Hello womball, the 1st zsphere is the base, we usually use it as hips ina humanoid character. If you move it, everything else moves - children to a parent.

Quite a few hand tuts exist, I think even a script or two.

We have several ways of doing hands in this thread from different people, although in the last year for sure it has been about ways that go from PC to Mac and back.

Show us what is troubling you and we’ll help you sort it out.

elarcano, the cow-thingy isn’t properly done, just showing a technique. His head is the master sphere, bad technique, but I did him up real quick. Nobody noticed that he doesn’t even have ears!!! Not even the person that originally presented the problem!

It must have been the lack of a daily dosis of sleep that kept me from figuring out that the back wasn’t the master zsphere -at this rate, if I don’t sleep today I’ll lose any intelligence left… uh, too late-

No ears? Well, you know, those paranoid mutant/mooses never listen anyway

smiling the cow really rocks!! :]
