A little challenge...

hey mates,

I recorded a zscript modeling this guy from the ZSphere template I already uploaded. I thought I could share it here, since this is modeling and posing of a ZSphere model. Both, the ZScript and the tool, that I take as base, are included in the zip. If the script asks to open a tool, choose the tool from the zip. I also save from time to time - you may skip these dialogues.

I dont know if it runs at other machines without error, since I use a customized interface. If there are any problems, just tell me and I´ll try to help.

The tool was created on a WinXP machine, so there will be the issue for MAC-mates, but maybe the part where I work on the head should run proper - I particular concentrated on this area.

You also can see how I try to prevent distorion during posing by alt-rotating the limb-basespheres. At least the skin arounf the Parentsphere always makes trouble…

Any feedback is welcome.

Oh Froyd…the first thing I thought: Escher!!

Wonderfull mate!

Jeen:+1:

Oh wow! Great! I feel a Zevening coming up…
You know the People Poker script… right?!
Lemo

Hey Froyd,

I just ran the script and loaded the model on a Mac and they worked fine.
Great work.

hey Dang,

that surpises me! If you look at the hand or feet, aren´t they looking fuzzy? But I´m glad to hear that the script runs on MAC, too! thx for the info

Yainderidoo: Had nothing special in mind when blocking out this

lemo: you´re right, could be interestig to see the ground pokered with some of them, looking up… I wonder what you come up with?

Actually my bad, I should have let the script run all the way through first. The hands are pretty scruched up and the feet are a little pinched but the rest of the model seems like the render. he reminds me of the old comic strip character “The Yellow Kid”

Froyd, thumbs up! Works fine on the Mac. I had to take some care with the hands.

ah ok, thats exactly the conversion-issue.
I donw know if that works, but maybe you could change the resolution of these 4 spheres, where fingers and toes connect, yourself. I illustrated that here.
You could save the modified tool and load this one insted of the one included in the zip.
As I stated, I liked the face of this guy and thats the part I worked on most of the time.
Hope this will help

greets froyd

froyd, i changed the head by placing and deleting some spheres. Your model had some problems with the mouth and nose. Also placed a backhead. Now the muscles of the face around nose and mouth are more natural.

ffroyd, Bas, beautiful. Both of you have the same problem hands and feet. Before you stored the morph some fingers and toes were to close to each other, altering that first will solve the problem.

Bas, yours works fine for me, but it probably will not for PC users. I see several possible issues, either way I’ll dissect it and we can all move one more step.

Thank you both as this will help move this process along faster. I hope to have time free up by Sunday and put up some updates that should help people further.

ffroyd, it was a joy to watch you work. Over the years one of the most wonderful things has been to have a few moments to watch others do what they do. The part I appreciate most is how one works, how one sees and conducts the process. This is one of the reasons I do love Zbrush. I will have to store a session myself and post it.

Bas, ffroyd, try this. I adjusted Bas’s figure to meet the rules that have been developing, but don’t have access to a PC version today.

If the head malforms under PC, let me know what the XYZ value is for the main head zsphere. It should be 3,3,3.

The morph is stored, if you release it, this is the pose you must start in. However before modeling, adjust the zspheres, so that the lower jaw is up, upper lip is down and so that the nose is down at the very least.

Baz, you´re right, at the end I had problems with opening/closing the mouth, since I played too much with inflatebrush, I think. Thats my challenge - I need to learn and practice aware inclusion of topology into modeling. I mainly go after the form I see with my eyes - no matter how polys flow behind lips or inside wrinkles - a thing I need to change. Maybe I can keep both things seperated with the legendary Topotools coming with the legendary ZB2.5 ?!
NARF! sry for any pun :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for sharing your version, the upper headsphere seems placed very well, resulting in a better blending between head and neck. using the lowest frontsphere as chin seems to work well, too, on the other side the posable mouth is lost then. I like the style of your heads, same here! nice job!

Jason, thanks for putting up that last modified version, i´ll give it a try tomorrow. I´m glad you liked watching me, this feature of zbrush was responseable for stunning me at the first zcontact and letting me watch Zscripts whole night long :) Its one of the greatest benefits of this digital age - You can easily watch how people work in tokio, NY, Madrid or Johannisbourg. With ZBrush you have a tool for the artist, that even remembers all your steps, you can archivate and share them. This is a "feature" that is heavily underestimated, a possibility that people some generations in the past couldn´t even think of. Like you said, you can learn so much more from watching how someone in particular is going his way, rather the reading a book about the topic. you can see also how the creator thinks when doing this (why he does this now and then this etc). I always enjoyed watching ZScripts, and after some time its also fun to watch how I worked myself, what I changed, what I kept during workflow. So you even can get some advantage in own development, due to a reflected sight on the own ZScripts. Therefor I´m always willing to share some of my work, because i know how much I got from ZScripts made by other users. And I´m glad if people liked what I made and maybe could get some information from it. Looking forward to see some Script "playing Jason" :D greets froyd

Yeah, yeah, just as soon as I have a few minutes. Realized that the post ‘ztl’ Bas had put that I corrected still has errors. Especially the feet. The left and right are not symmetrical. I’ve seen this before. I’m also getting great info from the files your putting up ffroyd as they are PC and I can see what is changing or not being changed. Thanks for all the help guys.

I took some time to give him some quick clothes and a new pose, hope you like it!

He froyd, nice image. Can you give it some other poses?

Amazing ffroyd, truly amazing. I’m almost done with a pile of stuff, so I apologize for my tardiness in getting back here.
