A little challenge...

OK - finally as promised - character rig 1 to test out. Should work on PC or Mac. Been tossed back and forth so much, not sure where this particular version started - based of my Frankie Jr., from way back, but that will be worked out next.

If this works for all, it will simply be a starting point, a base. So some feedback is in order. Stretch limbs, scale, whatever, then sculpt.

As you can see from above images, a lot of controllable detail is possible. Magnets are present as well. Mouth works, detailed mouth, face, nose, etc. possible and easy. Well as long as you follow rules, basically if it messes up YOU did something wrong.

I’ll post some other characters soon to see where this all leads.

Everyone is free to do as they like with these, although some recognition would be great for my over inflated ego.

Don’t break the morph, I’ll explain the process later. Increase the levels to what you can work with and sculpt. Then pose so we can see. Remember the rules for bending - zspheres in 1 axis only, or you’ll get a mess.

Let the insanity begin…

EDIT: I made a small change to the feet…

nice and thanks for the whole thread! you met the challenge head on and whooped it (at least twice)! now if i could only remember where feng’s is… i remember it being the best bar on earth… and everywhere else. oh well… let’s go crazy!

Please note - I just updated the ZIP file.

This time I’ll give it a chance…
-mental note: don’t break the mesh… don’t break the mesh… don’t break the mesh…

…recognition would be great for my over inflated ego.
Ok, you’re going on a Flatter diet Mr… I mean Sir

Don’t break the morph, I’ll explain the process later.
This is like telling me: here’s the nitroglycerin… just don’t shake it… / just don’t what?.. Ka-Boom!

Let the insanity begin…
Started long time ago… but this time it’s public -wink-

PS.
I tried to post the wink smile, but there was a tag that said: Registered by Jason Belec :stuck_out_tongue:

As joe_seig mentions above, if you want to open the mouth, make sure you detail the inside.

I suggest roughing your face shape, then opening the mouth to see what is and is not part of the lower jaw, until you understand how this works. I’ll provide a lot more control for when constructing your ‘zarmature’ later, then you can generate ‘templants’ at will.

I just did this this morning with last file I uploaded. I see things to explain already, but I’ll wait a few days to get lots of feedback from the lurkers and participators.

You still have to do work. Sorry. However this should help many of you over come the zsphere phobia and start exploiting the potential, especially for quick changes (ie. Art Director has a suggestion - industry joke) Least of your worries.

Another update to help things along. Whatever you do don’t use XYZ other than what is here until you understand the implications. It really can do a number on the mesh cross platform.

I modded this a bit for more control.

Also show what just moving the mouth zspheres in and out from the head can do. Please note this is the chain from the head to the upper or lower mouth part.

I’ve enclosed 2 versions, what I start with and what I use before sculpting - it’s important. So says I!

thanks for working out this nice template! Everything is posable very nice, couldnt hardly recognize any deformations. Is this now a template that works for both, pc and mac?

thansk again
greets
froyd

Yes froyd, this should work back and forth, so do a little and repost so we can test further. If you don’t mind. Nice pose.

Here is one Atwooki whipped up… More coming…

A little femininity introduced to this thread. Actually AquaGirl has been begging me for some one to shop with.

Bathtub reposte… Don’t know why, just seemed cool.

I think the toes will need extra zspheres, tehy wander a bit after a certain amount of rotation, I’ll experiment a bit as this is a new foot approach.

Of course other input will help.

Then I can get to work on a script to fix the mac/pc xyz value issue. I hope with enough data.

OK that seemed to be simple enough when I compared to an earlier version. My apologies for letting it slip through.

A few more tests and a posed character so people can see what was done.

And yet more…
From a PC point of view

Amazing results Jason…WOW.

Obviously a lot of the posability comes from the zsphere rig itself (which hopefully won’t break when (if) zbrush 2.5 is released), but how much of the posability comes from the shape of the mesh? e.g. the thin limbs/neck etc…

Any speculation?

Actually billrobertson42, it really doesn’t matter. I’ll try to whip off a fat one tomorrow just for you. The mesh is controlled by the zsphere’s, so it’s the same close or far. On another thread I whipped one up that had stretchy thin webing like skin as well.

That’s cool.

thanks baz will give that a whirl,
