Fro Dude! Your with the living! Jump on Skype.
Well, this is the Shave stuff on the ferret theme I’ve re-done (again…!)
Just put the basics into the file - stiil needs a fair bit of fine tuning to lose
the 'woolly-mammoth effect, and smooth out the fur a lot
All from AUV tiles with cutmaps and color maps painted in ZBrush

Hi Dave
These were straight from the Adaptive UV tiled models that Jason provided me, and mapped via ‘ZAppLink’ export to PS,
touched up with Ryan’s ‘Liquid’ in ZB, then flipped in V and exported to Maya to work into Shave and a Haircut.
(The ZBrush model was exported at level 1 to create the guides used to 'comb the hair with Shave)
Thanks froyd - how’s things?

BIG NOTE!
I must say all the little things are getting worked out.
However I have noticed a lot of inconsistancy with Zbrush. Symmetry is not always symmetry, in fact I think the app is laughing on occassion.
So before any sculpting and just after storing your morph - check, check again, check yet again that both axis are the same. I constantly find that zsphere connections do not mirror across the axis.
Now this may just be a Mac issue, although that doesn’t lessen the problem.
You are hereby warned - do not ‘ass-u-me’!!!
I have noticed the same thing happen on PC version, but I wasn’t sure if it wasn’t just something I did.
Do you speak of inaccuracies before using Resym or after? I also recognized asymmetry during work with zspheres. Especially when spheres are scaled and moved alot - then it happens that x-symmetry isnt working because my 1-sized brush doesnt snap on the spheres on both sides. But after clicking smartresym (and eventually masking the side I dont want to change) the issue always seems to be solved. that works on both, preview and zsphere-view.

froyd
My Experience has been before Resym. Usually once I notice a problem I take a minute and run resym.
Both of you are correct. However you will come across some that will not correct. Just pointing it out, here is an example, that no matter how many times and ways I trie it, the zsphere’s are not aligned.
Recently I even started to work in various axis to see if the issue persisted, and it does. Still trying to nail down specifics though.
EDIT: If you look at post #308 above you will see that the hands at wrists have symmetrical geometry at the back, bit not at the front leading to the thumb. It’s this kind of stuf that really messes things up as you progress. trying to figure out a rule, steps or manufacture a script to solve it.

Yeah I’m working that one over now, to decipher the mysteries of the Universe, then I’ll try to figure out how to fix the little sucker. First things first.
I may have solved this axis symmetry issue, running more tests to be sure, but it seems fixable and repeatably so.

I enjoy so much all these nice characters and the way they look…please never stop Jason
Yainderidoo
Thank you Yainderidoo, I appreciate the support and happy to see you here again.
You make it sound as though I have completed some characters. I wish. Perhaps when schedules are a little more relaxed I can grab a few of these and do something wonderful. My wife suggested I do a DVD and put them all on it with all the production steps A-Z. We’ll see as time goes on.
I do appreciate everyone’s interest though and it really is a lot of fun.
I’m hoping to post some characters from an upcoming feature or two over the next year, everyone seems in agreement anyway - for now.
