Jason, this is absolutely amazing! the little bugger is so cute! very well done! i’m already looking forward to see how you’ll finish this project… keep on doing such great work!
Welcome to the thread Rigor_Mortis404. I have responded to your email as well. I hope you will join us here at ‘zsphere armature’ central. I’m currently doing a test for this character’s fur and hair within the dislpacement capabilities of Zbrush. Atwooki is actually doing a Shave & Haircut test, I sure hope he doesn’t use that pink poodle look again. As explained above this character is a ‘templant’ that several will be build out from for animation purposes.

jason, thank you very much for the warm welcome! i’m already downloading the entire thread. have to play a lot with your examples ;)! maybe one day i’ll also be able to contribute something to this forum.
OK in my slow attempts to solve the cross platform issue, I have come across something weird.
No matter what I do, the Mac version of Zbrush does not, will not create a symmetrical armature of zsphere’s - specifically when it comes to hands on a biped. You can turn off symmetry and a small rotation on a digit, will fix it - UNTIL - you do something like, oh say, Smart Resym - Ouch! Totally messed up now.
I’ve sent this little beauty bug into the powers that be, but I would like those using the PC to grab/re-look-at one or more of the rigs posted in this thread - pC versions! You are looking for a difference in symmetry at the base Preview level before any modeling. Let me know her, so we can track this down once and for all, perhaps working up a script in the mean time that Pixologic solves it.
It is also not a result of the XYZ script, that just works on top of this. Tried it with and without.
In discussion with a few people, we may be on to something. Anyone else, Bueller? Bueller?
sooo lovely, the little ZWEEEETY

Well playing for a few minutes this morning with the idea of pulling hair/fur right out of the meash to allow a more stylized approach with the use of morphs. See above wolfman post. This is level 6 and very rough, but I think it has potential.
Thank you yoogy, and welcome to thread.
Here are some more quick tests, I’m liking the possibilities.
Added 2 more, I will probably go for more detail and a stylized hair, but the process seems to be viable.

As to the issue between Mac and PC. Atwooki and I have been sharing afile back and forth between things. We seem to be having some success. As we determine the specifics we’ll post them up.
More stylish fur. I seem to have a technique developing and it definitely looks good posed, hopefully if I get it right the look can be tailored.
Heyho,
i thought i could post a model i made some months ago, maybe someone wants to bring it into use again. I didnt experiment so much with posing but i tried the 2 legs/4 legs thing you used, jason. I had to alt-rotate arms/hands to prevent messing up the mesh and of course the finger had to be adjusted into relaxed position when standing. Well, I think it can be used for the one or the other posing if it doesnt get to wild.
Use it for whatever you want and have fun!
greets

Cool Froyd, we will run that through the current experiments to provide a solution for this Mac/PC issue.
Atwooki and I have come across some interesting things with this PC/Mac issue and partial solutions, so I hope to provide an update soon for testing.
Still exploring this possibility of hair out of geometry.
hehe that looks crazy and very interesting! looking forward to what it leads to
Well had a few more minutes and a few more ideas. Still not exactly what I was looking for, but I believe that is more a problem with me than Zbrush.
As you can see from the middle of the neck up I am closest to what I was shooting for. The lower portion below this division was between this stage and the last post.

nice jason! think you’re getting there fast on the fur. looks really good neck up. the direction(s) of the “hairs” is spot on imo. look forward to where you take it but where your at rocks!
been lurking this thread since the start. i haven’t joined the fun cause i still don’t own zb yet and i got stupid busy. the zb demo is great but it’s tough to find any contiguous time. haven’t had the need to buy it so it’s been in the totally-utter-desperation-desire-have-to-have pile. hoping to soon and will play with your zsphere set up then. thanks for the thread and staying with it. really been cool to watch it come around. don’t let any slow posters like me keep you from it. we’re watching!
I love it, Jason & froyd…
Hello pete330, Abyssis, I think I’m pretty close to e repeatable process that can provide variations of style.
Edit: Adding a really basic colour test…

Thought I’d post this little Fibre brush test from one of your models, Jason as
we plod on with the Shave/Rib issues…
Put on a quick texture in the head area, and will finish off later on
froyd: Great design and modeling of your Zif hound; really like that one
