Hehehe, I understand. If it is of any consolatiion when I saw the image I knew that the lips had those abseses, and I thaught to myself, “this guy is a genius!”. So now watching at the reference I get where those came. Congratulations! amazing job!. :+1:

Think it will be interesting showing you this, I did new eyes set up much more complexe then the other one, they give me full control over everything, funny to play with, and I did a blue eye and think to test it on my portrait character, and what a surprise, it changed him a lot!

I will post soon an exemple of how the light react in the eyes, I must try to do a little vids too, must be cool to see it move.

Ustos : Hi, in this final render , I did not used hdri, just 2 Vray lights. Maybe I will show the maps, they are pretty simple.

this is amazing!, just one little thing with the eyes… and that is that the pupils should have a tighter outline"sharper" if you look at pictures of eyes the pupil has quite a rigid edge, yours is a bit fuzzy. but great work man!

:red_circle: But if u don’t use HDRI, how u make reflections on his face? I tested SSS2
shader, with Bump, it becomes full of dark little pooints… Do u use Map for environment, in order to do reflections? (Environment and Effects -> BackgroundMap)

Then how u use AO in Vray?
Plus rendering without GI and with it makes some different pictures… If u make test
renders without GI and then turn GI on, u’ll have to recorrect lights. Or not?

Hi all, thank’s for the replys.

satjust4u : In older post I explained how I did the diffuse map, I won’t rewrite it sorry and the spec map is pretty simple, just a gray map with the lips and some parts of the face a bit more white for a little more spec, nothing complicated here. What doest the trick I guess is the modeling and the skin pore modeled, that helped a lot to pull out the details. The diffuse is kind of plane since the skin pore are done into the modeling. You need to add details of skin tone on the diffuse that’s it.

Ustos : Yeah the sss2 can make some white ( or dark if you environnement is dark and reflection on)dot , it’s kind of a bug, they are supposed to correct it, but for now you can use a less contrasted bump map since contrasted one seems to worsen the effect. SSS2 has specular component, so that’s what is doing my reflection on his face. For this rendering GI is off, because I wanted a contrasted image, but if you turn it on, yes you may have to ajust the light and turn on scatter indirect ligh in the sss2 (but render time go up a lot!)

anyway hope that help.

I think the blue eye version is the most charismatic one.
really interesting how much impact the eye color has.
