Toonie test one

Here is a little fellow I’ve started for an animated feature test from Zspheres and with only 1 mask. Took 4 hours to go through 25 possible Zsphere options and 1 hour to finish to this point.

I find getting good control of Zspheres for a humanish head a real pain. Animal, monster, etc., are a piece of cake. Heck, I did 13 Pterosaurs in 20 hours from Zspheres to final realistic detail and texture for an upcoming feature. I guess I’m just griping.

The Pinch and Smooth tools are without a doubt the best features I’ve come across.

Thought it was time to share as I haven’t since the Sketch Tool was posted by I believe Southern.

Hi Jason, he’s got quite a smile. Do we get to see the Pterasaurs? 50.

Yeah 50, I’ll post some in various stages, I can’t post the finals but my working builds are mine. I’ll do that later today.

A small update, still working out a universal process as a base to set Zspheres - the body seems to present few if any problems.

Here is yet another option - this one with toon hair roughed in.

A lot of base modeling to get the right head shape.

Very interesting to watch the development of your character, Jason. I also followed closely, your posts (along with Graham Nattress and several others) over on the Pixels message boards – back in the day. I’m not surprised to find you here, doing the cool things that you do. I have jusy fired up Z2 on my Mac twice now, so everything is still ahead of me. Reading and taking note of what the many talented people are doing in this forum with this unique software, is a great push to dive in! Keep up all the great work!

DJanzen

Hey DJanzen, welcome to the community. Make sure to run all your tutorial scripts they really are very helpful. Then check all the amazing threads stored at the top of the page between the orange arrows. You’ll be flying in no time.

Everything looks good now except the ears, which still aren’t in the right place. A little more definition where the eyes go next then the hair. Wait til ya see the fur on his snow suit…

Getting close to the base for the original drawing.

Input and feedback and especially ideas are always welcome.

Yes, I like this new Zsphere base. Much easier to get to the character look without wsting time. I was able to quickly get key elements into place to see the overall structure and look. And I can open and clsoe the mouth to check looks a bit - similar to what bones in a 3D app will allow.

OK. Not bad, some things are still issues, but this has allowed me to determine a production approach. So once I solve some of the issues that have come up, I will be able to start posting from scratch.

Coming along very nice Jason!
:+1:

Softened him up a bit - the absolutely coolest tool is SMOOTH!!

And you can see that I can open the mouth with Zsphere!

Some success… Hair still needs work and hois helmut and rope belt. Then we’ll se about a look.
