Nanny Ogg's rendering and compositing challenge The goal of this challenge is to produce the most unique and enjoying picture for both the fans and the jury, using witchever rendering technique and retouching, and of course Nanny Ogg. Download contains Nanny Ogg bust obj's with a pack of different sized maps for each, and is free for download for everyone. Participants are free to do their own compositions with Nanny Ogg in the focus, can inset flat backgrounds, can draw on it, or even build a 3D scene for her to be rendered in and apply procedurals… Do whatever you like. There are no limits to size of the image, the bigger the better, and multiple renders/compositions can be submitted. OMG, Nanny Ogg. Where’s Casanunda? Just reading thru the DW novels again nowadays, this topic just made me smile. Very well caught pic in my opinion, juuuust a bit stiff. And I find the bumps a bit too much. But definitely, it’s Nanny.

Hi there, did a Modo test, still new at Modo and had a few issues, some maps just to high Modo started crashing… I am sure that ZB4 will fix thia via GoZ… that is when I eventually get it…

Wow man! I love what you’ve done with it! Especially the pearls and the clothes are crazee You can size the maps down i photoshop for example.

Hi,

Saw this challenge and did a quick render in maya/vray. Nanny Ogg is taking her morning walk in the woods. Would of been easier if we had 32 bit displacement maps, I had to guess alpha gain values for each displacment object. Also Vray didn't like the tangent normal maps you supplied. It was like it bumped the surface too much like you had used contrast on the map in photoshop. So it look like the surface was breaking. I fixed it by adding the background color ontop of the normal map in ps with 50%. I would recommend exporting 32 bit displacement maps and use xNormal for your normal maps next time. Have you got ZBrush 4 yet, I haven’t, if you have why not use this exercise as a test, use the newer features and repost… hereby we’ll all be able to see the improvements of ZB4 on different platforms…

It’s a great idea (I’ve already rendered it in Z4, not very happy though, you can see it in my thread, second to last page now). The thing is that this challenge is going on other 3d forums, and Z4 wasn’t available at the time, and that was purposefully to fill in the gap before the siggraph goodies start preoccupying everyone, I think it worked out very well. But definitely would share the ztool if there would be people interested so we all find out more about the possibilities of bpr. Perhaps another ztool though not to get bored with the same one And it doesn’t have to be mine either.
