Tried to get as close as possible to the actual masterpiece from Leonardo da vinci, keep faithfull to elements like the sfumatto technique he developed, get it to look like a paint, photoshop helped a lot, the background is a mix with the paint and a 3d landscape i modeled/tex/render in zbrush, didnt get to put as much passion as i wanted due to the small time i had to get it done but i think it supported few ideas i had in mind.
Excuse for using the same brief
Everything in the scene went to zbrush before render, the background is all zbrush, then mixed with the paint in ps, the head and hands are normal maped in zbrush ,tnx for the zmapper great plug, the rest of the scene is mostly high res meshes from zb, all textures zb applink and ps.
absolutely amazing. I really love your rendition of MonalisaâŠexcellent work
Very nice work! It appears that the edges of the masks have come through more defined than you would wanted?
mattybyng tnx man:)
pride thanks, yes could not get a perfect fit to the background, there are lot more flaws you are the first one to point this one
Excellent work! And Mona lisa very topical at moment here in the U.K. with the release of the movie âThe Davinci codeâ.
As soon as I saw youâre Mona Lisa I thought: âHey, sfumato!â. Beautifull indeed, nice to see the old masters still inspiring us today. Copy and improve was the motto in the early days, and they were right!
Trabajazo. Se echan de menos las grietas del original.

Excellent work indeed. Such fine paintwork and smoothing of the texture.
5 stars material.

Reptu: Excellent piece. The soft glow feels like the effect the masters got. Her likeness is very well done also.
Top RowâŠ
Dickie
Ah, such a lovely and inspirational piece of reference youâve chosen there, reptu!
Added to that, what a wonderful feat youâve achieved in re-creating this so familiar to us all masterpiece - Excellent work
Youâve even pulled off the traditional âsfumato effectâ well, which adds to its soft appeal
Minor crit (very minor!) I remember âLa Giacondaâ having more âheavily liddedâ
upper eyelids (maybe heavier shadows under the upper lids are needed), and come to think of it, her finger-tips were
purposefully âoverâshadowedâ to aid in the particular type of composition used
(unusual in itâs own right not merely for its use of a âdual-perspectiveâ background!)
Lovely work, and a pleasure to see
Chris
Gorgeous working of 2d and 3d! The hands are very attractive in this piece and almost edible⊠This image brings out the cannibal in me; both artistically and literally!
Reptu:
Much Respect!

Great work!
And very interesting⊠recent research has suggested that Leonardo may have foreseen that one day ZBrush would be possibleâŠ
Very well spotted Marcus!
I knew the company logo was familiar from elsewhere somehowâŠ
(should be âdesignedâ back-to-front thoâ⊠hehe!)
Chris
Haha. lol! Can you make a larger image of that? Would be nice as a wallpaper!
