Disable right click > quick menu?

[FONT=arial black][FONT=arial]Hi there,

Was recently just gifted zbrushcore/intuous 3d package, and have generally been enjoying using zbrushcore. However, I find this “quick menu” that comes up when right clicking is pretty intrusive as a clumsy left-handed artist, especially when a lot of navigation involves right clicking.

I googled around and found that this can be disabled in zbrush proper, but the option doesn’t appear to be there in zbrushcore. Any tips on how to disable this?

Thanks!

I don’t know too much about this, but if you are using your tablet you can change your configuration under System Preferences and disable some gestures of the tablet.

This isn’t much a problem with gestures or the tablet. I just want to restrict the quick menu from opening when I right click. I’m wondering if it’s possible to overwrite the hotkey, or if there’s a configuration flag or registry entry I can modify, as the option that zbrush has is not present in the zbrushcore menu.

Then you should wait to get an answer from the Pixologic staff.

Glad you posted this! I was looking for a fix for this issue myself. Most of the time it happens so fast that you don’t even know what brush setting got changed. The full Zbrush version seems to provide an option to disable the right click popup, not ZbrushCore unfortunately.

look under Navigation->Enable RightClick Popup)

One way to avoid this problem is to give up using the right click altogether and use onscreen icons to zoom, pan and rotate the model. But then again it takes you away from sculpting and might not help when you want to rotate about a certain point. Though it would be really great to have the disable option in ZbrushCore also.

I’m not sure why the option to disable the Right-click menu was excluded - I will ask the developers to reinstate it for the next release.

In the meantime, when navigating with Right+click, be sure to hold the mouse down rather than clicking. This may stop the menu appearing.

Alternatively, you can try the left+click navigation. It has to be done OFF the model, or outside the white line border, but is not difficult once you have the hang of it:

Free Rotate – Click & drag Background
Move – Alt+Click & drag Background
Constrain to 90-degree rotation – Click+drag, press Shift
Scale – Alt+Click, Release Alt, drag Background
Rotate around Z-axis – Shift, Click, release Shift, drag
