ztools not displaying in lightbox

Hello,
I’m new to zbrush and I have a problem (like every novice lol).
I search for ztools (objects) I’ve downloaded by browsing in the lightbox but when I go to the folder where I extracted them I don’t see only few of the folders I’ve put there. The only way to access them is by the “load tool” button.
Any suggestion?

.ztl is a tool, .obj is another format. What did you download? Where did you extract the files to? http://docs.pixologic.com/getting-started/basic-concepts/lightbox/

ye si know and I want to load a *.ztl file.
I extract the files to a custom folder, and i browse to it via lightbox. Some of the files I copied to this folder are viewable through lightbox while the vast majority aren’t, including folders.

Sometimes you don’t even think about the basic doc, you just jump into youtube and the forums : )

You have to put all your custom folders containing ztools in the ‘ZBrush 4R6/ZTools’ folder if you want them in the ‘ZTool’ category in Lightbox. Did you do that or did you just put them in the ZBrush root folder? If you put them in the root folder, then they would be under the ‘ZBrush’ category in Lightbox.

Thank you. This makes sense.
But why does ligthbox don’t display the ztools when I’m browsing through it? Since it’s kind of an folder explorer, I search until I point to my folder where all the personal ztools are and… nothing, while only a few zdb appear and not ztl

Are you on Windows or Mac? What version of ZBrush? I had no problem getting to and seeing files in a folder within a folder on my desktop from Lightbox…

zdb?? what is zdb?

The only other thing I can tell you is that they have to be ZBrush files. For example, Lightbox will not recognize .OBJ files. The other thing is that the folder names can not have periods in them. For example, My-ZTools or My_Ztools are acceptable, but My.ZTools will not be recognized by Lightbox. ZTool file names can have periods in them, but not folder names.
