Zstartup not working (4R2b)

Hi.

I recently purchased Zbrush 4R2b as a single license and I’m having a persistant problem with getting custom alphas, brushes, textures and materials to load on startup. I’ve searched high and low all over the internet, but it seems to be a very rare issue.

Placing my custom items in their respective /Zstartup folder has no effect, not even after a computer restart. The only thing I’ve gotten to work is custom brushes, but not by placing them in the /Zstartup/BrushPresets folder, but rather in the /Zdata/BrushPresets folder. I even tried removing those brushes, in case messing with that folder would somehow cause a problem, but on the other hand I never got anything in the Zstartup folder to load even before I started placing brushes in the Zdata folder.

It’s mostly a hassle for custom Alphas, since I’ve already gotten used to use a large number of downloaded and custom alphas on a regular basis, and I keep having to load them all in whenever I start the program. I can get the alphas to show up in lightbox (I think it’s called?) by placing them in the /Zalphas folder, but that still doesn’t solve the problem of having to load everything manualy at every startup.

Is there a way to solve this? I’m using windows 7, 64bit in case that matters.

zdata is where stuff goes.

loading in a ton of alphas at start up will kill your RAM though, which will hinder your ability to work efficiently in Zbrush.
Lightbox is the way to go.

Even for alphas? Because I’ve only gotten brushes to load at startup through the Zdata folder. For alphas I’ve tried:

Zdata/Alphas
ZAlphas
ZStartup/Alphas

…and so far I’ve been unable to make a single custom alpha load at startup. The format of the alphas are correct, they’re even downloaded here from Zbrush central, so that can’t be the problem.

At any rate, thanks for the lightbox tip. At first I just found it annoying, not being used to it, but now I’m using it all the time. Loading the alphas isn’t that much of a hassle when I can just pop up lightbox and have it ready in a couple of clicks. Still, I’m at a loss to why I can’t make them load at startup no matter what I do.
