zsphere skin problem?

hey was trying to follow the “build a simple biped” video from Jason welsh and he talks about turning the ires to about 6 and the xyz rez to 1 i did that but my mesh looks so blocky compared to his what if anything am I doing wrong? I think the zsphere skinning has changed since 3.5 I included a pic to help show what i mean

now this is the bottom portion of a biped but where the “hips” are is all squared off and weird looking instead or curved and flowing like it should be

is there anything i can do to get the look im going for, the look that is in Jasons video?

I have not done a close comparison of the classical skinning in 3.5R3 and skinning in 3.1 but I have not noticed any differences.

Perhaps increasing Tool > Adaptive Skin > Mbr (Membrane Curvature) will get you closer to Jason’s video? I have not seen the video so increasing Tool > Adaptive Skin > Density could also be what you are looking for.
