zsphere chain mac (answered/solved)

Hello,
I am using Zbrush4 for the Mac.
I can not duplicate the chain tutorial found in the ‘Insert Local Mesh, Insert Connector Mesh’ HERE.
I get to the point where I click ‘insert local mesh’, I select my chain links, then when I hit ‘a’ (preview), only the root zsphere has the chain links. By the instructions the links should appear in every zsphere.

I am following the directions exactly. Is this a mac issue?
Thank you,
-B

Yes, I have the same problem when following this tut.
As far as I can understand, the insert Local Mesh insert the tool only on the selected ZSphere, and the Insert Connector Mesh insert the tool only between the actice Zsphere and its parent. So it is very painful to replace everything in the same ZSpere objet.
The tutorial seems to suggest that it could be done in one time, but, as you, I don’t know how.

Are you also using a Mac computer?

Unless I’ve missed something I don’t think this works in ZB4 on Mac or PC.

But a small plugin that should help is here:

Brandon : yes, I’m using a Mac
Marcus : thanks it’s very helpful

Oooo thanks Marcus! I slammed my head on my keyboard a few time trying to follow that part of the tutorial  and finally figured out the chainlinks had to be placed one at a time and in the proper orientation (I admit I gave up at that point - mind numbingly tedious work for an elaborate chain). I love having a script for this. I do not mean to disparage the tutorial:o however, everything else in the tutorial is very well explained and excellent.

Edited to add “do not” to the last sentance…ouch…what horrifying omission. The tutorials are EXELLENT…my apologies for the miss -type.

THANK YOU!

those few steps in tutorial were so misleading.
Your script does exactly what you’d expect to happen.

@ marcus_civis:
Thank you so much for that script- it works beautifully. I hammered out the below (admittedly sloppy) chain in about 3 minutes from ZSphere creation to end. The script is a huge time saver.

Thanks guys, glad the script is useful.

Thank you, Marcus! Was totally confused as to why this had stopped working as in ZB3.5R3…
