zRemesher with partial symmetry?

Hey fellas, I’m just starting with zBrush and so far I’m loving it!

I’m in a bit of a pickle though. While playing around with zRemesher (4r6) I noticed that when symmetry is activated, the zRemesher mirrors one of the sides. That’s great, but what if I’ve got an asymmetrical detail on there that i’d like to keep? Like hair for example?

Of course, simply deactivating symmetry works, but the resulting topo is far from usable.

Here are a few images to illustrate my dilemma:

I suppose there are some workarounds, like remeshing and exporting two models then grafting the hair from one onto the other in 3dsmax. But that sounds like an awfully dirty way of doing it. I’m sure there’s a more elegant way I just haven’t been able to firgure it out. I’ve scoured the net and haven’t been able to find a solution, which is odd, as i’d imagine this is a pretty common thing.

If anyone could give me some advice I’d greatly appreciate it!
