ZRemesher — result gets "faceted"

Hi! I’m doing some clothes and I just tried to use ZRemesher in an early stage, but why don’t I get a smooth result? It looks faceted? The left image is the original, the middle and right images are the ZRemesher results.

Thanks!

Problem is that you’re trying to use Zremesher to increase the polygons, it is more for reducing the polygons and automatically retopologising.

Try subdividing your orginial a few times, and tehn running zremesher on the higher resolution mesh

Aha, good to know. Thanks for the help! :+1:

ZRemesher is intended for creating low resolution meshes. The whole point of it is as an automatic way to create good topology from meshes with poor topology. Low resolution meshes will always look faceted in ZBrush.

It’s not a good idea to run ZRemesher on high resolution meshes - the computing power needed make cause problems. If you want a high resolution mesh then simply subdivide the low res mesh after using ZRemesher.

Hi Marcus,

Yeah, I just tried to remesh my lowpoly mesh to get a better topology, but tried to increase the polycount at the same time. But now I know how to use it. Thanks!
