ZRemesher questions

Hi,

Been working on a figure, my first. I wanted to split him up into polygroups so I can have separate UV’s for various body parts. But I found that when I ZRemeshed it the flow got off kilter so when I was trying to make a clean ring around where the arms meet the torso it wasn’t possible, so I polygrouped it anyways and then Polished by Feature to smooth out those area (with the rest of the body hidden) and then ZRemeshed it again. That worked but as I moved to other body parts each time I would ZRemesh the figure I’d loose more and more detail. Don’t want that happening. I guess I’m working a little backwards but it’s where I am.

IS there a way to ZRemesh a body part without loosing ANY detail to the rest of it? I really need to get this resolved one way or the other.

Thanks

Richard

Thanks so much for all your help Doug! Will read through and learn stuff… book mark for future use!

Another question…

Is there a way to FORCE ZBrush to create a more uniform mesh in areas I want it to be? When I use the ZRemesher it creates a spiral sort of layout. It’s quite aggravating when I’m trying to create a new polygroup and masking it … it just keeps spiraling outwards further and further rather than finding a common meeting.

I tried using the guide brush to layout lines for the remesh algorithms to follow but it’s not doing that at all.

Perhaps there is a different brush that will provide a better guide, I don’t know. As I get further into this project … what I think should be easy to accomplish … isn’t.

Thanks!

http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/geometry/zremesher/ There’s a video someplace which shows the painting method in use, thought it would be easier to find.

Yes, I read that but I think the vid is going to be helpful as I don’t know how to make that happen as of now. :confused:small_orange_diamond:cry:

Located the official ZBrush YouTube channel and subscribed to it… put in a search for ZRemesher and got this…

Quite a few vids. So I’ll have to look over these and hope it’s not an overly long search…

Have you tried using the guides brush in ZRemesher? It’s fairly versatile and can be used to affect how the polys flow.

Yes, tried that. Works to a certain degree but again most of the time it still results in a spiral. I did sort of resolve all this with using some of the instructions from this vid…
