Zremesher Errors

Hey all.

I sculpted this kitty in dynamesh, then turned it off when I got to where I wanted to be with it. Then [Freeze subdivision levels], and then hit [ZRemesher] and then to reproject the detail, clicked [Freeze subdivision levels] and I got the error in the picture.

Any ideas?

Seems like you have something masked. When back from Freezesubdiv Zbrush masks the whole model. But it your image the error parts are unmasked.

Subtool pallette is closed…somewhat confused with your workflow. Dynamesh has no subdivision levels to freeze…Lower the projection distance (try inner instead)

Hey Doug,

I don’t really have a workflow to be honest. I asked in a previous post about what’s the best course of action when working with dynamesh, i.e. when to exit dynmesh, remesh and project detail. I was told, turn off dynamesh, freeze subdivision, and then zremesher, then unfreeze, then continue to refine sculpture.

I’m just trying to learn how to work with zbrush :).

So anyways, this was the result.

Hi!

Thanks for responding.

Honestly there’s nothing masked, I just got through turning dynamesh off, and then hit freeze subdivisions so that I could xfer my details back onto my newly zremeshed mesh. So this happens right after I press the freeze subdivisions button again after having just pressed zremesher.

Not sure what is causing this.

You do have 2 cat subtools? But seriously, your workflow(from my perspective) appears a bit off. Dynamesh is great for some things like splicing parts together but I shouldn’t think it’s needed here? Read more, work low res and divide when you have to, easy to get too many polys and a pain to reduce it afterwards.

Hi Doug.

I appreciate your opinions, as there are many ways to skin a cat :). I actually got this information from following along with Joseph Drust’s video on zremesher. I did however just watch another live video where he was finished with the majority of his sculpt in dynamesh, and then turned it off, duplicated the model, zremeshed and then projected all the hires onto the newly topologized model, and then continued working with his model until needing to zremesh later :).

Hopefully, that weir area won’t occur.

Thanks again!
