Newbie here, using 4R6. I’ve created a detailed high poly model and used polypaint to create the texture. I’ve deleted the Subdivision levels and ZBrush can’t reconstruct them. I need to be able to export a low poly version and then apply the texture from a high poly version. I thought I could just do this with ZRemesher but apparently it erases my polypaint work. Is there any way to get a low poly version with ZRemesher and still keep my polypaint work?
Duplicate and reproject.
4R6 doesn’t have reproject. I’m assuming Rstr (Restore from Highest Subdivision Level) is it’s replacement. But it’s only available if you can drop to a lower subdivision level and I don’t have lower subdivision levels.
I don’t know why you deleted the lower levels, easier to get higher ones than to try and go backwards. In the subtool palette there’s Project all, that is what I meant. Your original, duplicate it there. ZRemesh, then project your paint onto the ZRemeshed one from the duplicate. http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/subtool/
Hey Zsusan:
You can duplicate your mesh prior to zremeshing or bring in append in your prior ztool with the polypaint information. Now with your newly zremeshed model selected and your old model visible you, select RGB or MRGB (depending on what you have used) with the z add turned off. Find the zproject brush and paint at 100, you should be able to project the color back, just watch out for the projection smearing off certain areas. Hope this helps!
Got it - it worked. THANK YOU!!!
The projection brush worked much, much better than the project all button. This really saved me a lot of work.
