I have just discovered a pretty confusing mean bug:
opened a character which I started in ZB3 just recently.
opened just fine. continued to work > saved as Project file> opened that file next day continued work just fine> last night added glasses I made from Zspheres, converted the Zsphere glasses to mesh and since it had a gap ( can’t close a loop of Zspheres, I jumped over to 3dsMax via GoZbrush welded vertices to close gaps and back to Zbrush. All went smooth and I was extremely pleased with the quick GOZbrush flow. saved the file again as project file.
opened it today and although it all looked ok, it was truly messed up. symmetry seemed off and somewhere in space around the model. close to it, but with a slight distance to the mesh.
to make matters worse, every brush I tried on it created a mesh exploding stroke as you can see in the attached image. oddly though that stroke would vanish immediately as soon as I released the pen. so, effectively it made no stroke at all.
the clay brush though didn’t even show the exploding effect while brushing.
before falling into despair over the lost work, I saved the whole thing again, but this time as a zTool. closed Zbrush4 opened it again loaded the newly saved tool and all was fine again. ???
I also noticed a new directory under users/public where GOZbrush saves individual files for a project and tried out the ztl from this character that has been created there. this one though also showed the same ugly bug.
finally I saved my now again intact Ztool as project file again which also seems of good health.
so my guess, is that upon saving something goes horribly wrong with a project file when GoZbrush was involved.
I still have the mentioned gone mad file and can send it to you for further inspection. I’d really like to know what is going on here and won’t touch GoZbrush before I know if this is a bug or if I did something wrong which I can prevent in the future.
