Zproject Trouble

Hey. So I’m kind of ticked off. pixo is advertising the new “zproject” save format as “Save all loaded tools, document size, light, material, timeline and render settings in one click.” So I’ve spent the last 3 hours sculpting and saving the project periodically. zbrush quits on me, I reload the project and NO sculpting info has been saved on ANY of the 3 different iterations of the project I saved, even thought the little preview icon in lightbox shows there IS sculpting info. But once loaded, at base level 1, no subdiv layers above. Do I have to save the tool too!!! That is RIDICULOUS! Why is saving in z so frickin’ hard!? all I want is “ctrl+S” and it saves everything. I don’t want it to ask me where I want to save and if i want to ovewrite, it just saves the file that I currently have open, just like EVERY OTHER PROGRAM!!! Saving is still a 3-click process if you’re not in the right directory. It just slows down workflow. GAH! I’m annoyed. 3 hours wasted. Sorry for the rant, but I’m just ticked…

Ok, on further investigation I was sculpting on an imported obj. So apparently zproject WON’T save changes you’ve made to the obj until you’ve saved it as a ztool, which makes sense, but isn’t very intuitive (go figure). Assumed whatever I had sculpted would be stored in the project. Not the case. “Save as” would be nice on the .zpr too. that way can get a 1 click (ctrl+s) keyboard shortcut save, and a multi click (ctrl+shift+s, navigate to directory, rename, save/overwrite) save as.

Can somebody please tell me how to delete ztools from a project? the zproject saves all tools regardless of whether they’re actually in my master tool. So I want to get rid of all unnecessary tools (like planes that I sculpted hair into to make alphas, and spare adaptive skins) so that saving will be faster. Thanks!

sorry for the late answer, and by now you’ve probably guessed it but anyway…

you’ve got to select the other ztools you want to delete, and simply press delete in the subtool list. The polymesh star will probably appear when you delete all the meshes and that’s it. Save again when the unnecessary ztools are gone
