zproject problems

hi ,
im having some trouble with my zproject… i was using it ok and some times it works and some times it doesnt , is it linked up with texture settings ?
is there some way i can reset a sculpture im working on so zproject works again on it ?

Make sure that your target mesh is not inside out. You can do this by going to “Display Properties” in your tool pallet and make sure that “double” is not on. If it’s inside out, push the “flip” button to see if this helps.

Also, Zproject works better (for me at least) if the mesh you’re deforming is “outside” or larger than the target mesh. If you see that your working mesh is “inside” or under the target mesh, use the move brush to pull it out or “inflate” the model in general from the Deformations tab of the Tool pallet, so it’s slightly outside the target mesh. Then you can resume using ZProject more easily.

thanks for your reply,
i looked at the flip button stuff, that didnt work, unfortunately my zproject still refuses to project from my background image,
my model is 7 sub divs , not sure what your referring to with the target mesh info though ?

Does your background image not have Z-depth information?

for your replies, great Tutorial info,
correct my back ground has no zdepth as im trying to transfer colour info from a photo.
usually it works fine but it seems to have stopped on one particular piece, now i’ll turn another head into it and try again !!

ive just found a fix…
i needed to make a new pm_3d tool from my sculpt ,when i did this and redrew my zproject worked perfectly again,
