I’m thinking about buying Zbrush finally, but I can’t get on board unless I can paint with photos. Will the new version have some implementation of this feature?
ZProject has had some of its functionality temporarily removed due to changes in the code for new features coming with ZBrush 4. When ZBrush 4 is released, that functionality will be restored.
Right now you can use ZAppLink for what you’re wanting to do. This lets you send the model to Photoshop where you can use its features such as layers and cloning to copy the details from your photo. Then you save the document and switch back to ZBrush where those changes will immediately be applied to the model’s polypaint.
